8 of the top 12 are from the west ...east is soft and weak - Redmile247
As i believe it is each season. That said the West beats itself up in the PO’s most often & might explain the last 3 cup winners. Not taking anything away from the Pens or Caps as both are built well for the PO’s. |

The west has had a history of beating them self up to get to the finals but I don’t buy that last year
Vegas was an anomaly and the caps earned that cup ... |

If Van expects OJ and Hughes to be the top two left sided Dmen, do you want to pay 3 million to Hutton to man the 3rd pair? Hughes will be on an ELC for 3 years, OJ with 2 years left on his ELC. - manvanfan
If this was last year, I would say no he didn’t earn $2.8 contract, and now because of circumstances I think he is earning his contract. I would like to see how he deals with his new role, maybe he can realize new potentials. |

Sometime during the season, Canucks hook up with Bruins for a decent trade.
Boston could use another centre, maybe Sutter, Canucks recieve Heinan and a 2nd.
You heard it here first.😁 |

Still a lot of season left to go for sure. I do hope that Hutton continues to improve and become a reliable steady everyday defensemen for the Canucks.
When it comes to contracts, JB sure isn't getting the most bang for his buck out of too many of them. Rather not him over pay Hutton for a second time. Also wouldn't be horrible if he gets traded at the deadline for some picks/prospects |

I'll put it in the book!
I do like the trade. Gauging Sutter's trade value is hard.
Personally since I had a hard on for Curits Hall at the draft last season in the 4th round and since Van didn't have one Boston was able to get him.
I'd ask for a 1st and Hall.
Boston might be more willing to give up a higher pick if they don't have to give up a young roster player. |

Jeez I must have struck a nerve
Story of your life eh ...getting bored talking to the same 3 people lol
I just don’t see why anyone would give up that much for a brandan Sutter ....a 23 year old D man coming off almost 50 point season and 2nd ....ok then lol |

Fixed that for you. Doesn't look like Danton is going to repeat his 47 point performance. On pace for about 21 this season. He's also not playing center anymore.
Brian Boyle for Byron Froese and 2017 2nd round pick (48oa)
Martin Hanzal, Ryan White, 2017 4th round pick(97oa) for
Grayson Downing, 2017 1st round pick(23oa), 2018 2nd round pick(55oa), 2019 conditional 4th round pick(108oa projected)
3rd line centers aren't traded very often. Closets trades I could find in the past couple of years.
Hanzal > Sutter > Boyle. |

Sutter's recent injury status over the past few years will not help his trade value. He has only put up one healthy season in Van in 4 years. Ain't going to get much for him.
It will most likely be a late 2nd and some AHL plug that no one wants. |

was hoping to see him traded in the off season, I didn't expect such a bounce back start, Hutton has seized the opportunity.
and was worried about his qualifying offer if he had another rough season or just improved a little. he's been playing above expectations.
if JB can sign him at a reasonable cap hit, there shouldn't be much to worry about.
improved fitness must of had an impact throughout his game. |

This is true.
Many here don't like Sutter, therefore they underrate what his value may be for other clubs, especially, teams like Boston, who have a window of a couple more seasons before it closes.
We, as fans, either overrate or underrate players on our favourite team, yet are surprised or angry when a player does get traded for what some deem to be, more or less than what we think market value is. |
