This is true. Many here don't like Sutter, therefore they underrate what his value may be for other clubs, especially, teams like Boston, who have a window of a couple more seasons before it closes.
We, as fans, either overrate or underrate players on our favourite team, yet are surprised or angry when a player does get traded for what some deem to be, more or less than what we think market value is. - Reubenkincade
Nothing wrong with Sutter, he's had some bad luck.
He's a good player. This has been beaten to death in this thread.
Story of your life eh ...getting bored talking to the same 3 people lol
I just don’t see why anyone would give up that much for a brandan Sutter ....a 23 year old D man coming off almost 50 point season and 2nd ....ok then lol - Redmile247
It takes a lot more than a comment from a Flames fan to strike a nerve with me, but hey, you go ahead and think what you want.
Do you guys get a pick in either of the top 2 rounds this year, or will you be making another trade for a defenseman.

My attempt on previous page to try and gauge what others have paid for centers in the past couple of years. Somewhere in-between what Ari got for Hanzal and what TB got for Boyle I think would be a decent deal.
Boston paid a lot for Rick Nash last season. Sutter isn't a rental either.
Fixed that for you. Doesn't look like Danton is going to repeat his 47 point performance. On pace for about 21 this season. He's also not playing center anymore.
Brian Boyle for Byron Froese and 2017 2nd round pick (48oa)
Martin Hanzal, Ryan White, 2017 4th round pick(97oa) for
Grayson Downing, 2017 1st round pick(23oa), 2018 2nd round pick(55oa), 2019 conditional 4th round pick(108oa projected)
3rd line centers aren't traded very often. Closets trades I could find in the past couple of years.
Hanzal > Sutter > Boyle. - manvanfan
Thanks lol few too many beers last night
It’s all about how other teams look at players ....Hanzal was highly sought after ...Boyle was very overrated after a couple cup finals appearances

We will just wait til we have a guy who we aren’t bringing back and then trade him to you guys for a 2nd and draft another young D man 😉

Sutter's recent injury status over the past few years will not help his trade value. He has only put up one healthy season in Van in 4 years. Ain't going to get much for him.
It will most likely be a late 2nd and some AHL plug that no one wants. - LordHumungous
Yeah so you keep Sutter because when he's healthy he is a horse. He scores clutch goals, plays against the top Centers in the league, beast in the faceoff circle, a elite penalty killer and he is relentless on the puck. All great skills, and most nights he is better than Horvat. I haven't posted in years but I gotta defend my guy, Sutter is a staple in this lineup, a 7-6 win over the Avs doesn't = Trade Sutter.

Sutter is what Sutter is...most of knew that when he got here. He won't ever get over 15-20 GPY or 40 points per season regardless of health. An effective 3LC on most clubs that can climb up/down the lineup when needed. But he is not in Horvats' category sorry. Yes he can be more effective than Horvat defensively/PK on occasion but that's where it ends. Horvat could slot into most clubs 2LC spot where Sutter just can't get there.
'If' we can show that the kids can win without Edler-Tanev-Sutter trading them is EXACTLY what this club should do. This is the NHL not Junior B. Too early to tell but if they keep winning without the aforementioned 3 in the lineup it's time to move on...hell it's time to move on anyways lol
How has Valimaki been playing?
I said before his draft and still think, he is the best defenseman out of that draft. - Reubenkincade
I wasn’t sure he would stick right away but he’s been great ...him and ras on the 3rd pair is a perfect spot for both right now
Be interesting to see that draft in a few years once we have seen a few D given time to develop and a few seasons from the top forwards ...right now it looks like losing the draft lotto worked out better for Canucks
