Sutter is what Sutter is...most of knew that when he got here. He won't ever get over 15-20 GPY or 40 points per season regardless of health. An effective 3LC on most clubs that can climb up/down the lineup when needed. But he is not in Horvats' category sorry. Yes he can be more effective than Horvat defensively/PK on occasion but that's where it ends. Horvat could slot into most clubs 2LC spot where Sutter just can't get there.
'If' we can show that the kids can win without Edler-Tanev-Sutter trading them is EXACTLY what this club should do. This is the NHL not Junior B. Too early to tell but if they keep winning without the aforementioned 3 in the lineup it's time to move on...hell it's time to move on anyways lol - LordHumungous
the issue with Sutter is that he's just limited offensively, he's not a guy who's going to take advantage of increased 5v5 o-zone starts or PP time.
He'll likely end up with a similar stat line regardless of usage so he's frustrating to watch when given more offensive opportunities, he's just a solid bottom 6 player.
He won't ever "step up" offensively when injuries hit, he's just solid in his own role and should be kept in that role even if injuries hit one of the top 2 C's on his team.
I like that Green realizes that, WD was just a junior coach in over his head and overplayed Sutter because of his status on the team instead of playing him based on his skill set. That's what really made Sutter an easy target for fans. Even Pittsburgh had Sutter on the 2nd PP unit for a decent amount of time, he's just not useful on the PP since he lacks offensive creativity, his game is better suited for even strength play.
Overall I like him as a bottom 6 player, just as long as the coach doesn't overplay him. I don't love having both he and Beagle as 2 of the 4 C's on this team though, 2 checking lines in a league that's going heavy toward speed/skill/offense doesn't make much sense to me. You're relying too much on your top 6 and PP for offense. |

Settled then. Sutter stays. Beagle has to go. |

More likely it goes the other way, unless they're eventually okay with using one of them as a W on the other guy's line.
For this year, I'm okay with having both in the lineup. But if they want to start improving their secondary scoring next year then having them both center their own lines probably isn't going to help improve secondary scoring. |

I sort of like having Gaudette in the line up even with his limited minutes. He has better offence then Sutter and Beagle even though he only has a single point. |

Considering the other options right now, I guess so. Unless they think Kero has some offense to give in limited minutes. |

Stevens gone - Nucker101

I don't think anyone here is suggesting that Gaudette is better than Sutter right now |

He was noting that Gaudette has more offense.
Either way Sutter should be part of the formula right now because having him in the lineup makes them better. How many more games do we need to see before we starting thinking that this team is no longer in a rebuild and actually a legitimate team. |

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd say Guadette is better in any facet of the game yet. I do think he's a more creative player than Sutter, but his confidence seems low so we haven't seen it yet. |

omg the Kings hired WD
1-2-3-4 line order, no line matching or care for roles!
Maybe an old dog has learned new tricks, but if he coaches the same way he did here then lol |

The new coach effect will help him right away, but eventually he's going to get exposed as a bad NHL coach unless he's changed his ways.
You can't just play your lines in 1-2-3-4 order at the NHL level, it's just bush league coaching.
We'll see if he's learned from his mistakes. |

I can't believe it, didn't think I would ever see WD coach in the nhl again - anavar
same here
apparently he's just the "interim" coach, so essentially a tryout for him this year.
good for him, but wow |

John Steven's, I don't think will be available for long. I could see Hasktol gone for him. |
