He was noting that Gaudette has more offense.
Either way Sutter should be part of the formula right now because having him in the lineup makes them better. How many more games do we need to see before we starting thinking that this team is no longer in a rebuild and actually a legitimate team. - Jerry55
Sutter would be a good part of a formula that is a competitive team, as of right now, the Canucks are on their way, but lets be honest, they're only as good as Pettersson.
When the Canucks have enough depth to still be competitive without Pettersson in the lineup, they'll have crossed the line, until then, they're still very much in a rebuild. |

guessing he wasn't willing to take on an "interim" job.
Hawks fans want Joe Q gone, bet teams like STL are really hoping he gets canned |

Vigneault has pedigree, he can coach offensive or defensive teams, depending on their makeup. Can't believe LA hired Desjardins. |

PDO is not considered to be a reliable stat at all. It's more of an indicator of puck luck.
He'll be fine. - Nucker101
PDO Example
Take the case of the Anaheim Duck's Ryan Getzlaf, who was a 12-percent shooter for most his career. Getzlaf finished the 2013-14 season by scoring on just 5 percent of his shots, while the Ducks, as a team, scored on just 7 percent of their total shots with him on the ice, leading to one of the worst seasons of Getzlaf's career. His PDO was a career-low 99.7 that year, according to Hockey Reference. But the PDO shows that the season was an outlier for Getzlaf. His PDO jumped to 101.4 in the 2014-2015 season and a whopping 106.1 in 2015-2016, the highest of his career, according to the hockey statistics website.
Considering that Sutter's avg oiSV is usually around 93% and right now it's at 86.9. |

Even that, you could argue that they don’t exactly have a ton of options. |

Torts won a cup in the NHL and had some success with the Rags though. If anything, the Canucks were the blip on his career. He's been decent everywhere else. - Nucker101
Injuries killed Torts here that year. He had the team in the top 16 almost until Jan 1.
Combination of bad luck and some pretty futile coaching decisions after Jan 1. |

I can't believe Willie Desjardins is going to coach in the NHL again - Pacificgem
Actually not that shocking. 103 pt season in Van and some piss-poor rosters to work with after that. It will be interesting to see what he can do in LA. |

A team that has always thrived on playing tight defence and winning 1-0 and 2-1 games. Might be right up WD's alley. |

Losing Quick is massive...but they still have some depth to get things done. I'm betting we haven't heard the last from the Queens. |

Actually, I find it very shocking, his in-game decisions were head-shaking for the most part. His one good season was just a product of the Sedins last hurrah. |

I feel like you don't understand how PDO works and that isn't meant as an insult.
The reason it is considered a stat that measures how lucky a player is because the two stats it reflects (on-ice save % and personal shooting%) vary greatly year to year for most players. Generally the way PDO works is the higher the number above 100 the luckier the player is and you should expect his PDO to regress and vice versa.
PDO is also only really relevant, like most stats, with a large enough sample size. A 13 game sample isn't going to be very useful. |

Team shooting % and team save percentage. Based on even strength team percentages. Nothing to do with personal shooting %. They don't vary that much unless you have a very good or very bad year.
According to their theory, you should be around 100% so a player who hits above that is just lucky and a player below that isn't.
Sutter was a +8 last season and a -8 so far this season. Going to tell me that's not the same thing as being 8 points less in oiSV.
Clearly it says that Sutter 5v5 is losing the battle. Last year he was winning. |

Belcher (my brother from another mother) is right, in my opinion, stats are extremely subjective and should only be used in conjunction with on ice play. 15 games are not a large enough sample size to form any player deployment opinions on. |

Stats people call plus/minus the most useless stat in hockey, yet many of these modern stats actually try measuring luck...how (frank)en ridiculous.😁 |

I think AV is still being paid 5 mil a year by NYR . I don't think he has any interest in a 2 mil job as interim coach. He has also been rumored to be linked to Seattle |
