Who cares if this team is good or we get a high draft pick? You and I do not control this team .

The team has started a huge change. Not one person I can recall in here has said we will finish above 20 th . If they are good then it's a bonus , if not oh well.

The entire point of this that you have missed from the start.

Is that any avg fan(there are fans outside of this blog) can go on the internet and look at some stats about their team and find some reasons why winning didn't continue. I really don't think people post stats about every player and every game so a GM can go on the internet to look at it.

Some advance stats are good for NHL employees , some serious gamblers, and for people involved in sports in some capacity. Hockey Buzz in none of them.

It is fine to follow them as a hobby but most fans in here will tell you to bend over and shove them. Most fans here have been watching for years and I don't recall anyone on here asking advice from anyone about a team or player . Most of us look at the game and say yikes or he had a good night.

You are still referencing hockey buzz people. I'm not. Never was.

I'm saying stats that can help educate the fan base so that when the Canucks win a few games at the start of the season fans (not hockey buzz people) don't start planning a parade for a team that probably isn't that good in the end. Which they wouldn't know the team probably isn't that good because they don't know the stats that most of hockey buzz people do know. Admittedly or not.

I am referencing HB because your opening posts you said "Sutter's PDO is at 94.9, last season it was at 102.9
At even strength last season he was a plus 4 in goals. So far this season he is a minus 8 "

That is using advanced stats with HB people.

Sutter and Guddy are hot issues. A large part think both stink and a large part think they are needed for the Canucks.

It will always be a hot topic with a lot of push back from both groups.

I did use metrics to support my theory that Sutter hasnt been as good as last season. Told I wasnt allowed to use meteics and to stick to the eye test. I said that most fans probably wouldnt notice the difference in Sutters game but could use metrics to see there might be a difference.

I dont mind if anyone wants to have a different opinion on Sutter or Guddy but as someone mentioned arguing a biased opinion on a player is pretty much useless.

I know that I learned a lot. Smart, educated fans use stats to make other fans feel stupid, inferior and therefore making their opinions pointless. Really, if you don't use stats you should not post here.

Advanced stats are like Fortnyte. A lot of fun for some but pretty much useless in Hockey Buzz.

Marwoods last post is pretty bang on. No one cares if you use them in the right context. If you use them to try and look smarter then prepare to get your ass whooped.

No offence, but these easy to understand concepts are not about age. If a goalies save percentage is, all other things being equal, higher when I am on the ice than when Minivan on the ice it means I am a better defensive player than he is. If the team shooting percentage is higher when he is on the ice than when I am it means he is a better offensive player than I am. In one game (or a few) you could chalk that up to luck, but when the sample becomes statistically relevant, you can be confident that the results tell an accurate story.

Looking at the next 6 games on the road and some of these games look winnable .I think we would have a good chance to win 4 .

One more win required in the next 5 games to reach 500 hockey for the first 20 games.

Keep it up.

As long as they don’t play Arizona, or Ottawa or Buffalo they should be good

Could you imagine what this team would be like if we got his brother?

honestly, some advanced stats I like, some I don't care for as much, regardless, I have found it much easier just not to post about them in here lol. I understand PDO%, understand coris, fenwick, etc, but I just don't think any of it has ever really been overly welcomed here. its less about understanding, and more about it being used in an appropriate time and place. my opinion anyway.

What if you are playing against 4th lines who are less skilled and he is playing against top line skill ?
Or what if you are playing with plugs and he is playing with EP and Brock ?

Seems a little flawed then

and I think therein lies the variance of advanced stats. Coaches often throw their best lines out when a 4th line ices the puck. The counter-argument is that the same variance goes for every single player on all teams, so its even across the board and therefore still a relevant stat. Either way, there is a time and place for analytics, and I am not sure hockeybuzz is one of those places lol

Not sure where anyone is getting this second player for comparison.

It's one player, same role, different year.

I took a peek at the upcoming road trip. I'd say the same 4 games that they should be able to win. I'd be fine with a 3-3 road trip in the end though.
