[quote=Nucker101]right now?
no thanks, he needs more time to develop and adjust in the AHL
So does Gaudette, the guy is playing really passive hockey.
Patience. - onesmallleap[/quotenot now , just thinking if Goldy doesn't improve, not sold on Goldy as of yet
Neither am I, but the season is still young. Let Dahlen develop in the AHL, hopefully Gaudette re-joins him there too once 1 of Beagle or Sutter are back. |

i would love to see JV/EP/BB get a run together - onesmallleap
that's an idea I could get behind.
But Green might want JV in the bottom 6 right now just because of depleted his bottom 6 is without Beagle/Sutter. |

EDLER WONT WAIVE ππ - CanuckDon
Have you asked him nicely? Maybe if you offer to mow his lawn for him until he's back from playoffs? Twice in April and you're all done if he waives to go to the Leafs.

Curious what the Panthers' reactions were after that hit? Did someone on the ice immediately go after Lemieux and make him pay for his transgression? You know, in a not-soft-like-the-Canucks retaliation sorta way. - YeOldTimer
Mackenzie Weegar? fought him soon after? Lemeiux intentionally gave Derek Mckenzie? a high stick not to long before too. |

Why? If he keeps this up why would you not want him around? - Nucker101
If he can keep getting better, or score a bit more, for sure keep him around.
Maybe it is impatience on my part but I can't wait to see how his season goes. Last season was a big let down from the previous 25 and 19 point seasons.
Who is the real Ben Hutton? what is his ceiling? could he be a top pairing guy. can he put up goals? be consistent?
Do we have anyone better behind him?
Is there any rush to move him? qualify him for 1 year, salary arb, whatever.
I'd love to have more youth pushing for spots, I guess I don't want to commit to Hutton but if he stays and is resigned, he could still have value if the club wants to move him down the road. |

Edler is a liar, last year he said that he'd be open to waiving if they asked him to because he wouldn't want to stay if he wasn't wanted here |

Tbh iβm torn between seeing us compete all year or fade. On one side of the coin competing bodes well for the future & the teams confidence. On the other if we fall & can get more high picks that helps longterm.
Itβs fast coming where we will be flush with prospects & the problem of where they all can play & develop. |

is he a 3 mil D-man? thats the question , because it will cost somewhere around that to resign - onesmallleap
If Van expects OJ and Hughes to be the top two left sided Dmen, do you want to pay 3 million to Hutton to man the 3rd pair? Hughes will be on an ELC for 3 years, OJ with 2 years left on his ELC. |

bang on is Hutton worth 3 to be on the third pair? or would Edler resign for a discount ? if Edler would give us a 3 yr at 4mil deal then Hutton is expendable |

Ya.
Sutter and Beagle are nowhere near ready to return either. He's still a better center option then Granlund IMO. |

Yeah it's like a 10% raise or something.
what are 20 points worth from a dman?
he could have his best season so far if he stays healthy. |

Exactly, what's the risk in keeping him around? He's a RFA, you don't have to give him term.
Hutton himself is 25 years old lol, only 3 years older than guys like Chatfield. It's not like he's Edler or MDZ's age.
He's never going to be a guy who you can just classify as a pure offensive dman or shutdown dman. I know that bothers some people but who cares if he's not easy to label? As long as he does the little things right and keeps himself in this shape then he'll be worth keeping around as a minute muncher.
Hell, Juolevi seems to be trending that same way not a guy who's going to take a game over offensively like Hughes and far from a shutdown dman.
And let's be honest, the AHL dmen down in Utica aren't dominating. OJ and Brisebois get praise which is nice to see, but I see both of them get criticized as well.
Meanwhile, a guy like Werenski was getting reviews like the "best dman I've ever seen play in the AHL" when he was down there. There's no rush with guys like Juolevi, injuries will hit the team next year and if he's good enough, he'll not only get a chance, he'll take someone's job.
Let it play out and the cream will rise to the top. |

I see Hutton & JV & Baertschi as very similar in that once they learn & understand what being & playing like a pro every game is all about they will sink or swim. Hutton & JV both have more to give & conditioning & buying in 100% is where it all begins.

So we're just going to assume OJ is going to be a lock to become a legit top 4 dman?
What's wrong with having a really strong 3rd pairing? I thought the goal was to become a contender? |

If Hutton makes himself a keeper the cap is not a concern IMO. We look good at cap management considering who will be gone as in vets & their contracts. |

Yes
Even if they "expect" him to become that, it doesn't mean they know he will for sure.
I'm sure the organization expected a lot of things from prospects that they drafted early in the less 6-8 years that aren't even in the organization or league. |

not worried about cap , but if Hughes and OJ need minutes , it makes no sense to have that much tied to a third pair guy , unless he's Edlers replacement then it doesn't matter , but we need to see Hutton become a total pro |
