That's the problem since he's been here. They are relying on him too much to win games. If the plan is to rely on your goalie to "steal games", it's a bad plan. They never have scoring, year after year, because the focus is always on the (frank)ing goalie, every (frank)ing season.

While I agree with you, goalies around the league "steal" games from time to time.

I feel like what makes the difference between an average NHL starter and an elite one are two things: Concistency and that ability to carry your team to victory when they're not playing their best.

Habs, most often than not this year, have played very well and didn't need him to stand on his head.

But the few games we did need him to, I cannot say he ended up being "the difference maker" an elite player is for his team.

We do need him to be better, hell we need him to be amongst the best at his position if we are to have success.

i think it's perfectly reasonable to expect an $84 million goalie to steal a game here and there. every other player making that kind of money is expected to carry their team on some nights. should be no different for Price.

first goal on Sat, no chance. but the Miller goal, second Stamkos goal... yes great shots, very difficult saves. but you want to see him come up with a save on one of those. otherwise he's just another goalie.

He's a victim of his own contract
- Pat1993

true,
still, even though we all agree a team should not pay a goalie 10M+, what would have been a more appropriate number? can we say 8M?
so they're paying him 2M too much. big deal, they just have to pay their 5th and 6th dmen a little less.
at the end of the day, he needs to be better, like he was againts BOS. whatever the paycheck he gets.

I was being sarcastic... With that contract, he does have the pressure of performing and playing up to expectations, but that's what elite players do. It's hard to imagine anyone making 10M dollars a year as a "victim"

You may be right , but at 10,5 M.....

Oh I agree. I was talking from a management standpoint

As much as I like Carey, and as I defended him here, I probably would have let him walk when his contract ended. Everybody knew what kind of contract he was going to get, and to me, it doesn't make any sense to invest that much, for that long, in any goaltender.

the real problem is,
TB gets 10 scoring chances, they put the puck in the net 5 times.
Habs have 10 scoring chances, they score 1 or 2 goals.
what ever goalie they face. same old story.

and yes I would trade his ass for a young top LD

yes well this was a summer when Marc Bergevin had a month-long stroke it seems. only way to explain the Price and Alzner signings.

And the Markov/Radulov walks.

Easily his worst summer as a GM.

yes Tampa is more talented. meanwhile Montreal is scoring about 3 goals/game while giving up just about the same amount.

Markov was getting old, so I could see his point I guess. But they did not replace him with Alzner or whatever he did.

And Radulov....oh well.

agreed on Markov, and who here can say it's not Markov who wanted to go back home, to his kids and new wife?
you're spot on, replace Markov by a real top puck moving dman instead of Alzner and life is good.

Do you want to get paid what you're worth, in a warm gun loving low tax state and play with Seguin and Benn...or sign with a team spinning its wheels and get a worse deal?

Avec le recul, l'échange pour aller chercher Drouin fait mal. M'en sacre qu'il soit un franchophone.

Au moins je suppose qu'on a Mete et quelques jeunes à la ligne bleue, mais bon.

I still think people overrate Sergachev a little bit.

Don't get me wrong, kid has loads of potential and will most likely be very good down the line.

He's still playing on tampa's third pair and has 4 points in 14 games so far.

I liked the trade back then and I still do now.

Both players will do great.

Drouin will need to be more consistent. He has the tendency to disappear far too often.

true, I would also like to see him shoot more.

and learn a move or two from Domi for when he goes one on one againts a dman. Domi is much better than him in that situation.
