Sheary - 5 goals, 8 points = "worst move"

Girgs - 1 goal, 5 points = "one of our best players"

Of course he would still make the trade. We still need more forwards to put the puck in the net, not fewer

- jcragcrumple

Yeah, even with the extra year, Sheary’s speed is worth it.

Don’t blow your wad on informing us all that Girgs and Larsson are not good enough.

We’d be even better if ROR was still here instead of the scrubs we got for him
Maybe I’ll be wrong about Thompson & he will turn out?
Or maybe those picks will turn into good players in a few years?

The Skinner trade was great...
IF we can keep him
Still tbd

You can debate it all you want but there’s no guarantee that Skinner is here without being able to move out O’Reilly’s deal.

Plus, this team is just better without him playing 20 minutes.

It’s going to get even better playing Dahlin in Risto’s role.

So far:

1. No problem with Sheary. Was a good move.

2. Reinhart needs to do more. Be a bigger factor/problem for opposing teams!

3. ROR trade is ehh for for me thus far. Should have gotten a single good player rather than 3 ehh players. Only knock on Botts for me so far. But I'm glad ROR's gone along with large contract.

It's like the salary cap doesn't exist in some people's minds.

Also this Ottawa story...man that's bad

If Skinner is extended using the money saved from the ROR trade then it's a win.

Plus Berglund and Sobotka have brought some good depth to this team. They are a little pricey but it was a decent trade.

Thompson needs to go to Rochester.

Call up Aslpund or Nylander

Give them PP minutes and see what you can do.

This team is going to need that draft capital in a few years to field the bottom 6 and bottom 2 pairing on cheap contracts

Is it? Who doesn't complain about work? The disrespect of "not paying attention" for 3 weeks, maybe... but the boys joking about how they can't stand anyone up at the line or that their PK sucks. I don't think its a big deal, i don't know a single person on the planet that hasn't complained about a job/boss/school etc. Maybe that's just me

I think people underestimate the mess JB inherited. He got some luck with Dahlin, yes. But...

Bloated deals, decisions on core players that never won,cap issues, locker room tension/division whatever.

And months ago, I posted that my buddy who sometimes has info and it’s always good it seems, told me O’Reilly privately wanted out. There’s a reason he was moved before the bonus kicked in, and it’s mainly because they weren’t paying a guy they 100% we’re going to move no matter what at some point.

Most of the mess he inherited he has taken care of already (Lehner, ROR, Moulson).

Bogo and Okposo while not worth what they are currently making are at least playing decent hockey.

I don't have an issue with Risto's contract. Just his usage. He needs to be on the second pairing or moved out to a team that overvalues him.

Eichel's contract is going to look like a steal if he puts up 90 points a year consistently.

The big issue Botts inherited was the trading away draft capital for players that he needed to move out.

Getting a first for Kane, ROR, and getting bargain players for next to nothing is a huge win.

He has to be careful with Skinner. He can't overpay, but he can't afford to let him walk or even trading him at the deadline isn't ideal unless his asking price is outrageous.

He still has a lot of work to do.

I know everyone no matter where they work complain about their job, bosses, coworkers, etc.

However the locker room in Ottawa is already fragile after the Hoffman/Karlsson thing (which is funny we haven't heard about in a while).

A sports locker room is very different from a 9-5 job. Teammates can talk crap about each other to their faces and it's a funny bonding thing, doing it behind their backs to other teammates just isn't a good look at all.

I didn't say it was, athletes voice their concerns with coaching a lot. Doing it with the boys in an Uber really isn't an issue in my eyes. The only issue is this guy releasing this video for a pay day.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in LA, or if a team like the Ducks decide to make a move to save their season.

You know there is a team in Ottawa that could use some stability but I would think he is too pricey for Melnyk

That's not voicing concerns, that's saying I haven't paid attention in 3 weeks.

That is a huge lack of respect.

Talking about how their linemates suck, PK is terrible and joking about it is not a good look.

The Sabres moved out O'Reilly and brought in 3 players making about a million more total than 1 player.

They would have had to fill those spots with either 2 rookie deals like Nylander and Asplund. Or found some vets.

They would have been able to afford Skinner with ROR this year but they wouldn't have made the move if they plan on keeping Skinner past this year.

The team certainly wouldn't be where they are in the standings if they were using random players in place of Sobotka and Berglund IMO.

If we exclude his empty net goal, Berglund has 1 goal on 21 shots.

If you think a career 12.5% shooter is going to keep shooting under 5%....

He’s been just fine this year

I mean we discussed this at length when the deal went down.

Granted Skinner wasn't a Sabre but there were reports the Sabres were interested in him.

In theory could they have both this year? Absolutely.

Would it be smart to bring Skinner here as a rental? Hell no

I really like the way he has been playing this year.

I also like the 4th line.

They have been doing what they are supposed to do

Exactly, but they were no where near that position.
