In honor of this sad day in Hawkland...My sources just shared footage of Coach Q's exit interview and his final message to Stanley "I got this job bc my Daddy" Bowman

To those that are upset, Q was fired but not Stan Bowman, or both-The NHL doesn't usually work that way in this type of situation. Almost always a GM gets to choose at least 1 head coach, even if he doesn't win 3 Cups. Bowman has never chosen his own head coach until today.

My biggest gripe with putting Colliton in there is that you have Barry Smith there as an assistant. I'm sure he is a great guy, but did Colliton have any say in that decision. I want him to have full reign over this team so that he can put his stamp on it. If he swims, great, we have a good coach. I just have this horrible feeling that it will be a mish-mosh of voices and no one really knows who is pulling the strings because everyone up top is trying to save their jobs. - Chunk
I highly doubt Colliton had any say. He is star struck by the opportunity, but Smith and Granato are the eyes and ears for McD and SB to ensure he buys into what makes their decisions look good.
He has not been set up to succeed - he has been set up to be a yes man, and the next plausible excuse for the next chapter of McD fail.
Ladies and Gentlemen - this is what comes of a McD run organization.
Enjoy.

Sounded like Barry Smith was working closely with Jeremy Colliton in Rockford since he landed there. I guess that's why he's been placed on his staff... as a... babysitter?

Jeremy Colliton on the ice for his first Blackhawks practice

The #blackhawks are practicing right now. There will be some amazing quotes afterwards on Q reaction.
Heck, there might even be some tears. |

Stan has more than his share of mistakes and bad judgement issues. Holding onto and signing aging players to long term high end no movement clauses contracts while peddling a notion to the fans that he is really trying yo improve this team. Example when you sign a veteran who is over the age of 30 years old to a 8 year no movement clauses and trade to almost 7 million a year or a bottom 6 guy who never scored 20 goals a season but has 1 lucky playoff year to a 4 year 4million dollar deal knowing this team has issues with the cap ceiling and has to pay out bonuses with winning he makes those deals and due to his incompetence in order to fix his problem he has to trade a 21 year old future super star ?
Bowman and his father have out stayed their welcome and should both be shown the door and mc D as well.
This teams talent level is awful and their is nobody in Rockford you could swap out with who will give you a better result.
It's time to put everyone on the trade block gainmpicks , prospects and cap relief and build around Johki and Debrincant. - Taylorst1
I disagree that they do not have talent. They have loads of talent on this team, the coach just couldn't get everything out of them. |

Not the McD way. Won't be allowed.
Look for a lot of this kind of crap:
"We wish Joel all the best in his future endeavors."
"Joel will always have a special place in Blackhawk history."
"As players we can't concern ourselves with these things. We just need to work on being a better hockey team."

Yes, because 10 years of playoffs and 3 Stanley Cups under McD have really sucked.

Sharper eyes might actually question of whether McD or Bowman had ANY impact at all on winning three Cups.....
I'm going to go with no.

With Q getting fired it showed again they don’t care about you unless you are making them money.

I'm not so sure...I mean they like Colliton, and liked what he did in Rockford, so I think they let him take the reigns, and Smith is there to help out and make sure that he succeeds. |

I'm going to go with yes...MCD has been with the org since 2007, before they even started winning, Bowman has been there longer...since 2001...

Sorry man - Colliton is going to be looking over his shoulder during his entire (I predict short lived) tenure as head coach.

I think so.
Drafting Saad and Shaw.
Trading for Frolik, Vermette and Oduya.
Signing Emery (I think we signed him), Richards and Handzus.
These moves were StanBo and were all vital parts of cup winning teams.

Who was the guy that Scotty Bowman once forced on Q a few years back to help the Power Play back then? It was very strange - it was someone who Scotty knew well. |

Show me those were HIS decisions, and the causal linking data to if these guys weren't signed they would not have won the last two cups and maybe I'll come around.
A little. |

I like him too. A lot.
But what we will see from him is his face on what Smith and Granato enforce from the top as the way to run the team.
Would you EVER take a leadership position in the professional world and have no input on who reports to you?
