Penguins almost always stumble out of the gates these past couple years. Think they’ll be ok |

PP the last couple games has been awful. Too many east west passes and not enough on net. Forcing the puck to guys in coverage. When was the last to time Phil took a shot off the wall? Why is Sid floating around in the high slot? |

Yeah and Caps Wednesday, so easily could be a 5 game slide.....Shultz and Brassard out hurt. Rust and Hags sucking wasnt in the plan.
The biggest ? is whats the deal with Sprong? good or bad? Sully just being Sully? |

I think the split PP will only last a couple of games....if that. I hated the announced 5v5 lines. Sid with Rust and Simon is awful. East/west is the problem at 5v5 too. Honestly, I think that's one of the biggest problems. |

Unless the idea of splitting up the PP is to get guys to shoot and crash the net it will not end well. |

Someone said last night that Brass' injury is his groin again. All summer off and he re injures it. That can't be good. |

This team also has a problem with teams that collapse down.
Allowing the Pens to have the perimeter is a pretty safe play right now. They'll just throw it around and then try to force it into heavy coverage. |

That's why Hornqvist needs to be 1st line RW. This is a recurring problem with the Penguins in the Crosby/Malkin era. They'll come out of it. I still think we need a couple additions/subtractions from the roster, but I'm not concerned about the PP or the stars. |

I'm still not sure why Sid is finding himself in the high slot all the time. He seems lost and no one is finding him there without being covered. |

I came here for Wilson's negativity. Never fails. He and Tanner don't know s** about hockey, but my are their articles funny to read. |

What exactly has been wrong about Wilson’s assessment of the Pens? I would say that most people on this board would agree that the Pens have not looked good this season, have gotten poor goaltending, and have also been outplayed on most nights. |

I’m kinda bothered by this poor goaltending idea. Yeah, Murray could definitely be better, but with them allowing such a high rate of high danger shots/chances, IMO unless you’re Price or Lundqvist, it’s not gonna end up well. |

From last blog.
Accused of looking at the wrong stats??
Problem with analytics is which stat you want to believe. If they aren't converting on their 'good' or 'high danger' then they need to fix that. They can be 8th on the list of HDGF but when they are 30th for the % they score from, that's bad in my opinion means their scoring chances weren't good, or they are (frank)ing something up when they get there. Perfect example of why HDSC shouldn't be taken as serious good chances for scoring like some here think.
Also that dummy is citing incorrect stats
5v5 Pens
HDGF 8th
SCGF 1st
Here is the issue
HDGA 2nd worst
SCGA 3rd worst - Feds91Stammer
Depends which stats you want to look at. What does the HDGF% say? What I said right?

Perfectly good stats I quoted - you quoted different stats - just so you know. See, there is analytics at it said best. |

"Plus little interesting fact - the Pens are 30th in goals off HDSC (All situations) 24th 5v5. They should be trying to increase that statistic if you are placing so much importance on location of shot. Not increase quantity - if you understand that?? (More shots = more goals right?)"

Did you read the rest of the post So you quote quantity of goals off HDSC & Im saying they're 30Th for goals from HDSC. Maybe I should have just put the % in there but it changes zero. They're not converting their chances & when you have wienerheads quoting HDSC like it's a factual event that's important when the Pens aren't converting them then that's just stupid! 2nd last for converting those chances isn't good in anyone's interpretation of the 'numbers' that don't lie.
But keep going.

I was replying to Steamers comment, but you jump on a lot of the time because that's what you do.
Still changes nothing about your original post about the Devils having more HDSC than the Pens & that not being 'sufficient'.
Hint : It's not the quantity, it's the quality! If the Pens aren't converting those chances it doesn't matter - but I doubt you even though that about that! |

I'm talking & always have been talking about converting their chances. You chose to ignore that in an attempt to discredit what I said. What was the term you used, I can't remember.....?
Changes zero, the Pens aren't converting these cherished HDSC dikosaur & Boyd always chirp on about as well as nearly EVERY OTHER NHL TEAM! As I said, they probably didn't even look into the stat (HDSC is a stat isn't it), just quoted what others have said! |
