Well it is never good to see anyone get fired ,I think coach Q brought this on himself . I have felt for sometime Q lost his fire for the game ,and it looked to be on full display in Calgary .
His insane line-ups weak Special teams unwillingness to work with the players brought in by the front office (Stan) and all around stubbornness led to his downfall .
Glad they cleaned house behind the bench ,it was a piousness mix back there . Nobody seemed to be on the same page . So long Q - oldduffman
I'd bet that Q wins another Cup before the Hawks do.

From an earlier post: "As a Hawk fan from the Savard, Secord, Larmer, Wilson era, this reminds me of some of the Bob Pulford days when coaches had to pay for bad front office decisions. While the head coach is usually the first one to take the fall for a bad performing team, there is something about this that stinks."
Long time 'Hawk fan here (40+ years), though I haven't posted at Hockeybuzz in a long time. Thought the same things. This is deja vu all over again.
Patrick Sharp was interesting on NBCSportsNetwork tonight, however-said he and others were sad, but also seemed to support the move???
Anyway, bummer for the Blackhawks. Like with Ditka, I guess it had to end. |

what kind of system does Colition run (PP, PK, Offense, D)? and how do the current players fit that system? |

Basic observations:
On the PP the Hogs do the push em back to start the rush. At least on the first unit, Sikura is used in the same role as Kane. Raddysh is the QB and main point man.
PK is a tight box with the players swinging their sticks in unison to prevent passing lanes. |

If he takes another coaching job, you could be right. After Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, and Crawford; you seemingly don't have anything in place that even begins to resemble '09 thru '15. i doubt(hope to be wrong) i see another Cup. Over the next 3-5 years this core will fade away. And there are few if any replacements. |

Your on .Really I wonder if he coaches again .I think he has lost the fire to put in the time ,not like he put in a lot of time anyway .Why he was a players favorite coach . |

It could be worse...at least we aren't Ottawa...
"Sens players apologize after caught on camera mocking coach
TSN.ca
A group of Ottawa Senators players apologized on Monday after they were captured on camera mocking one of their coaches and laughing about their woeful penalty kill in a video posted online.
The Senators players said they were unaware of the camera in an Uber vehicle, which recorded their candid conversation on an Oct. 29 ride in Arizona.
The video was first reported on by the Ottawa Citizen after appearing on YouTube and Twitter. The Senators players visible in the recording - , , , , , and - issued a joint apology through the team for their comments, specifically about assistant coach Marty Raymond." |

Yes. That's kind of the point. They couldn't afford another one. (at least through 2015)
Also, on Gus, totally disagree. He might not be on about a half a dozen team's rosters, but he's a 5/6 dman on pretty much everyone else's and being paid like one.
The Rutta contract I disagree with. - HawkintheD
Well D we are going to find out real quick Colliton's assessment of Gustaffson - as soon as Forsling and Murphy are healthy and cleared to play.
IMO Erik either learns to play defence real quick or he's in Rockford or moved to a team like Ottawa or a team with a banged up blueline. |

That's fair. My guess is Gus is still on the island and Manning, Rutta and Davidson are voted off.
I could be wrong and wouldn't be the first time. I do think the defense looks better with Forsling and Murphy back. Both were better at playing defense than any of the four above. |

Quenneville has long been stubborn and refusal to adapt for years
If he goes on to coach another team and finds success it will be for only one of two reasons:
1. He jumps to a team with a near complete cup contending roster and he again has the horses to win a championship
2. He finally gets the wake up call with the firing and changes his coaching style
Either way, Quenneville was not going to be a championship coach here anymore and that’s the reality all the fans that claim this was a bad idea need to accept |

This isnt true. Several comments were made - by players - about his passion for the game.
He was a players coach because players all around the league respect him because he's a good coach. To claim he didnt "put in a lot of time" is quite the joke. I'm kinda happy for him to move on from what is going to get much worse in CHI |

Not only do I agree he'll coach again and win another Cup elsewhere...
I also predict Kane will ask to be moved in the next year or two- because he has the drive to win and not suck/deal with garbage excuses.
While Keith and Seabrook are in the twilight of their careers, Kane still wants to be the best and wont get that in CHI going forward, IMO |

I think after this team lost to Nashville or should I say got rolled over Coach Q should have been fired then. That being said Stans negatives awful trades, bad contracts, depleting assets with nothing to show for it out weigh anything positive he has done.
Stan was given a golden opportunity with army of young talented players and superstars , along with a farm team loaded with talent, he destroyed this team and did not give coach Q a supporting cast around his aging no movement highly paid remaining stars.
For Rocky Wirtz to allow Stan to be fired shows this man has no business owning a team. Stan should be fired immediately.
I think your going to see the likes of Kane and toews request trades if things continue downward.
Thank you Coach Q for everything you gave to this team and city. - Taylorst1
I disagree with everyone here on Stan Bowman. He did not make one decision on his own. He was a GM in title only. He was a puppet and the face of the GM title. Every signing, every contract, every trade, every draft pick was a decision by committee. McD and Scotty were involved in all the decisions. It would not surprise me if Rocky was involved in the committee as well. I am not sure who else was on the committee. They all have to accept the blame here. With all that being said, time to get a GM that knows hockey (the game and the business side) and give them the autonomy to make the necessary decisions to make the Hawks competitive again. The committee inherited riches just like Q did. They all made the best of the run we had.
I feel sentimental that the great run is over. Thanks Q for your part of it. However, it was time for you to go. I hope the Hawks are classy and give him a memorial night for the best 10 years this franchise has ever had. Every member of the core deserves that type of memorial. I just hope that we can experience another 10 years like that relatively soon.
It is time to go back to (a promising) future. |

Funny you mention him.
I hear Dylan will be up shortly and Jeremy may bring more of his Rockford regulars after some time.

What makes you think this? What if the team starts playing well, the PP is dominant, and the team starts winning again? What if Colliton treats the players better than Q did? |

Because I dont see anyone on the roster to help Kane. Toews is already slowing down from his start. And Dylan Sikura or Highmore isnt going to help Kane. He already shows frustration at times, and he respected Q. Once this guy starts calling up his Rockford boys, and then the marketing starts pumping up this youth, Kanes not stupid. Youth doesnt equal talent |

McDonough question- If the hawks miss the playoffs do you fire Stan Bowman for failing to achieve your expectations?
I have one thing to this was plan attack and cue by Mcego and bowman to finally get their yes man. Ok bowman you got what you always wanted full power now its on you to deliver the ball is in your hands. Succed and riches and glory will come your way FAIL and you will become an after thought and looked at as the gm who dismantled a dynasty. Bowman is now on the hotseat lets see what he can do? |
