Forgot about TT, there's so many talented young forwards we've lost because of Bowmans poor decisions that i can't even keep track of them all anymore.
- SimpleJack

Somebody forgot to mention that the folks in Washington declared that acquiring Kempny for a third round pick was the most one sided trade in Washington Capitals team history.

It’s funny how people are now making up things.
If teuvo was that good he would it have been traded.
Duclair is on his 4th team.
If hino and Hartmann are still here are we now a contender?

Q is a great coach but his was stubborn to a fault regarding his assistant coach’s and our power play. And during the cup run we had more than enough players.

I believe Stanbo should’ve been shown the door as well.

And what is the common thing about these coaches? They fell into a team that was ready to win.

OK, I'll bite... what does "ready to win mean"?

Completely agreed

Another absolutely horrendous move by Bowman

I thought we were way too quick to rid ourselves of capable young forwards in Duclair, Panik, Hartman, and Hinostroza. Those are PERFECT cost controlled fast, talented players that you can build forward depth with. Lack of forward depth and production outside of Toews/Kane/D-Cat is one of our main concerns....and of course Bowman had his hand in creating this situation.

Imagine what our forwards would look like with those guys, Danault, and Panarin still on board. Pretty damn good.

- SimpleJack

I was kind of hoping that they would have taken a flyer on Duclair as well, but he hadn't shown much when he was here, so I don't really have an issue.

Hartman, Hino and Panik in place of whomever on this team would not change much in my opinion. You have Johnson who takes inopportune penalties, Fortin as the fast guy who can't quite keep up with his speed, and Hayden, who hits and flashes occasional offensive talent, but disappears for long periods of time.

If TT were still on this team, he would be getting the exact same treatment as Schmaltz. He'd be called a non-contact ballet dancer who would be overpaid regardless of how much it was and how many points he produced.

I will happily await the day Stan goes out the door, but a lot of these moves don't happen in a bubble. Some the of guys Q wasn't playing. Duclair was scratched in favor of Jurco on some nights.

The sentiment that Q was done wrong? No. We all knew this day was coming. Q had a great run, but the winds of change blew in. Its a team as a whole in transition. After last year, the leash was short. After the same neon warning signs began flashing this year, it had to be done. Awful PP. PK?? D zone scheme or whatever they called it was a joke. This should have been done last summer. Now we have Colliton who has shown talent in working with young players. Yes I would have liked him to finish the year out in Rockford and now you are the HC for the Hawks.

Barry Smith could be the sneaky signing to help out the PP. Nothing to do now but get behind Colliton and see if he can hit the right buttons. I expect some Rockford call ups soon. Stan is on the same short leash. It reminds me of the day Ditka got let go. Like with Q, that day had come.

You can't blame Bowman for that one because Q was the one who destroyed Kempny's confidence, just like he did Trevor Daley's.

Bowman should have been fired the year after he traded Denault, but when you don't have "Hockey People" running the show at the top, the judgement isn't there to see the horrible moves being made and hold people accountable.

Q & SB havn’t been in the same page for a long time- both to blame.
Q for being stubborn- Stan for being incompetent!

It started with not playing Weise after the deadline trade - same with Daley

Then Bowman trades Teravinen to squirm out the contract with Bickell that he gave Bickel.
Trades Hammer against Q’s wishes & for good measure fires Kitchen.

The Leddy fiasco - Sharp to Dallas disaster- let’s Raanta walk. Trades for Timinen- brings back Sharp & Kruger
Let’s Himastrossa go to move Hossa’s contract & then does zero with the Cap Space.

This off season a complete disaster
Kunitz- Ward- & Manning. Signs Rutto

It goes on and on.

I’m sure Joel is enjoying the $12 Million coming his way

Stan Bowman is an atrocious GM that should never have been GM in the first place. Gotta love nepotism...

At some point I hope Colliton tries this forward lineup

Saad-Toews-Sikura
DCat-Anismov-Kane
Fortin-Schmaltz-Kahun
Highmore-Johnson-Kampf

Or at least DCat-Anisimov-Kane

FWIW given the current resources, I like that lineup.

1st line has a playmaker in Sikura to get the puck to Toews and Saad; with Colliton as head coach, Sikura could thrive after gaining confidence in the AHL and having that same support at the NHL level.

2nd line is as close as you're going to get to replicating the Panarin, Anisimov, Kane line just replacing 72 with DeBrincat; the Cat is capable of putting up similar if not identical offensive numbers to go along with his tenacity.

3rd line has speed and creativity; plus it allows Schmaltz to anchor a line that would face lower QOC and earn either a solid bridge deal or more affordable longer-term contract.

4th line could very well be the future 4th line once Kruger's contract expires as I see Johnson or Kampf as the heir apparent to 16; good mix of relentlessness, physicality, and defense.

Lot of youth in the bottom 6 but let them grow together. This could be where Colliton really shows his worth. He will have Smith and Granato supporting him and providing depth of coaching experience at the highest level.

Yes and he was traded because Q would not use him ,therefore it was better to move him for a pick then lose him for nothing . Q distain for any players Stan signed or traded for was so evident that was one of many reason he was let go ..

bingo...4 teams in 4 years at 22...he is a half a bad season from being done in the NHL
- bogiedoc

DuClair: But only 22 (actually, 23 now). How can you give up on a kid with as much potential (yes, only potential at this point) as he has shown?

He was not well served by going straight to the Rags put of juniors - only had 16 games in the “A” when Az had him.

I still think the Hawks gave up too soon on a skater who had one the the Hawks have too little of - skating speed.

Best wishes Coach.

It's clear now Bowman is beyond reproach, teflon level immunity. But a proven coach with a masterful track record, even going back to before he got to the Hawks can tall on the sword.

I think this is the beginning of some dark times for the Hawks, but boy the hockey played between 2008 and 2015 was a lot of fun. Even in 2008 when the Hawks just missed the playoffs you knew they had something special building.

Anybody can get traded. What is critically important is what you get back in a trade and therein lies the reason for the ongoing destruction of this team. Enough damage has been done. Time for new mgt.

Can't thank Q enough for what he did to this young Hawks team when he came aboard. As a kid growing up in the 90s and watching all of our best players be traded away not understanding why they were traded, and not getting to see the home games on T.V. having to listen to them on the radio to seeing Rocky take over, bring Foley back and putting the games on T.V., watching Kane and Toews be drafted and come up, Hossa being signed, and all the countless other moves that were made that made this team what, I could not have imagined being lucky enough to see ONE Stanley Cup win let alone THREE. I am beyond grateful for this. I took it for granted at times assuming this team would always be on top instead of soaking it in as much as I can. I wish Q nothing but the best of luck going forward whether he chooses to retire or go elsewhere he will always have a place in the hearts of the diehard fans. I hope Colliton can help this team along and get back to greatness. Whether or not that will happen will be up to the players and those in the front office who will set the course of this team going forward.

Thank you again Q

No good reason why this franchise - with its resources - shouldn’t be able to become competitive again reasonably quickly.

WITH the right coach.

AND the right GM.

I'm betting that Coach Q lands in Winnipeg with former Hawks assistant GM Ken Cheveldayoff. Q will be what the Jets need to win the Cup.

I've done a 180 on my emotive day of despair, realizing the Hawks will never have a coach with more success in my lifetime....

The Hawks actually did Q a giant FAVOR. Q gets a $12M retirement check and the opportunity to coach any of 25 teams that would probably take him over their current coaches.

The Hawks can now dismantle the team without interviews with Q: "Q how does it feel to trade away...(Crawford)(Keith)(Seabrook)(Kane)?" There are no internal roadblocks to blowing it up. Colliton is lucky to have a head coaching job, he's not going to push back on any personnel moves.

Not a popular take but not far from the truth.

What really changes now except the coach. They still have the same cap issues. They still have all the the NMC and the same GM who handed out all those contracts. If they want to start over totally clean house and bring in a new GM and new coach. It doesn’t make much much sense to leave the guy in charge who put this roster together. I don’t know about you guys but I have no confidence in SB to rebuild this team.

Loved. Q, he was handed a dogs breakfast. All the best for new coach C, but that youth at 500. K a year. And all those HOF players, it will be touch sledding. I'm sure if this don't go well, Standbo will trade. Keith and or Kane, and they won't refuse the trade. The domino has begun.
