I wonder how Krugs is doing, hope he's okay. Maybe Johnson takes his spot if he isn't 100% |

That was a rough game crew.
There were a lot of nerves throughout the lineup. However, some solid fight to make it only a 1 goal game.
They'll need to figure out their own end... soon. Wow. What a mess they are. - Justin Lowe
we have heard from game 1: gotta tighten up around our own net....i think thats happened in 2 -3 games... |

it looks like the hawks answer to having a chance and make up for dreadful secondary scoring is have kane play half the game and the entire pp...which absolutely nutz |

I’m done with Schmaltz. Guy is a weak (frank)ing pansy. Would trade him for a young Dman, yesterday. Watch Bowman give him a ridiculous contract. Gustafson is awful. Hawks are a bad team, Idc who’s befind the bench bc he’s not on the ice. - EnzoD
If Schmaltz is that bad why would any other team trade for him? |

Funny thing is, he's young enough to suit up and outperform four of our D and six of our forwards. |

Seriously.....scratched face and can't play the last 35 seconds ??? Toews worst game of the year. Lots of bumbling pucks like last year plus 2 primo scoring chances in Period 1 with No finish. - Hawkytalk
Apparently Toews needed stitches |

I didn't like Kane on the whole pp either. I've said it and many others here, that hurts the pp more than helps. Opps know how to defend that. He will quickly burn out if that's the only way we are competitive or can push back. |

Toews stitches and Krugs unlikely to play this weekend. Knee injury. |

Saad needs to share the helmet. Krugs day-to-day??? You know??? That's bad news for both the guys. |

It’s not that he’s “bad”.its that he’s just not very good. There’s no way I’d give him over $4mil. WEAK in a physical sport and he’s no Patrick Kane |

We got to give Colliton at least five games to figure out who needs to go back to Rockford and also release a couple of veterans. The Hawks have a multitude of shortcomings which our new coach will need to address ( Good Luck Coach) . The Hawks have only a couple of players willing to screen and park their body in front of the goal. Out of our core of wingers and defensmen, only Kane can bring the puck cleanily into the opponents zone( that is bad news). The Hawks are loosing the battle of the boards consistently ( can't win games with that stat). Stan's "magnificent 7 "on defense are a disaster. Four of D core are at best IceHog quality(thanks Stan). The power play and penalty kill is so bad...it is just plain atrocious. I think our new coach after a couple of weeks will make the powe play better because he is more creative than Coach Q . The penalty kill unit will not get better until Stan provides our coach with at least 2 New quality D men... I am probably dreaming for that to happen!

Colliton was asked if he wants to see Schmaltz continue to shoot more. He said he would like him to keep moving his feet, be stronger on the puck, and be better defensively. That will lead to more offense for him and others. Man it would be great to actually see that.
It will be interesting to see how the lines change with Kruger likely to be out and how sloppy they were. |

I was hoping they would fired up out of the gates, but I guess it wasn't that kind of firing. That first period, they were still numb from it. But they still made a game out of it, and still had fight left in them, especially Crawford. They had to get this one out of the way.
Yes, there will be a few games of taking inventory. Speaking of inventory, when do Forsling and Murphy come back? Not that they are the answer, but they have to be an upgrade over the two worst defenders that are on the ice right now.
I was so glad to see Schmaltz take that shot and score. More of that, please.
Glad these injuries tonight weren't serious. |

If he’s “not very good” then we can’t expect much in return, maybe a bit very good defenseman. But we already have enough of those. |

Good to see Scotty Bowman at the game tonight. Probably in town to see Coach Smith. I guess I really do not mind the coaching change but I feel it Stanley should have been fired too. But do the assistants have to be the 2 snitches to McEgo and Company. |

I am starting to see 3 defensmen closing in on Kane on the power play when he is taking the puck over the blue line. . We need a quality D or F to bring the puck into the blue line so the team's can't stack up on Kane. Unfortunately, the Hawks have nobody else capable to efficiently bring the puck over the blue line . Kane was really flying tonight. However, you are correct... He will burn out with those minutes he had tonight. Our "fortunate Son" Toews use to be able to carry the puck over the blue line 4 years ago.... Now Toews loses the puck or gets squeezed into the boards. The performance of the Hawks on the ice is like watching the IceHogs on a bad day. |

Sounds like Colliton prefers more of a man-to-man defense vs Q’s zone system. Let’s see how this plays out. |

How about just going with 3 forwards, 1 Dman and 2 goalies. Might be the only way they can keep the GA below 4 per game. |

HA! Hawks are bad! Q was clearly the problem, not the severe lack of talent on the roster. |

Yup anybody who watches the NHL knows how poor a team they really are - except the brass making the decisions.
Its between them and the Senators for worst overall. |

Player-coach!
When's the last time that happened in the NHL?
(I looked it up, Charlie Burns for the Northstars in 1969-70. Interestingly enough, Coach Q was a player coach for the St. John's Maple Leafs of the AHL in 1991, his first coaching gig.) |
