I think I prefer quality over lining the pockets of the owners.

I definitely not interested in playoffs being extended, already long enough.
Not sure if playoff revenue counts as hockey revenue, which would then increase salary cap, so players will get benefits of the generated revenue.

31 possible games just to win the cup. Another half a season. Insane.
- manvanfan

It's not a good thing agreed. If you wanna have 20 teams in the PO's then the reg. season sched should be 72 games. But that will never happen as Bettman has his head up the assess of the American ownership base. FLA-ARZ-CAR-NYI-NJ have the lowest attendance figures every single season but he keeps teams there. The 7 CDN teams provide almost 45% of league revenue but we are always the ones getting screwed i the PO's.

How would you feel if you were the ownership base of the Habs or the Leafs where Billion dollar franchises put in millions into 'revenue sharing' to keep teams in FLA and ARZ where they bleed 40 mil in cash season after season

You gotta love Gary...he's a tool but he sure knows how to satisfy the US.

The US is a much larger market. A lot of it is untapped too. There isn't room for growth in Canada. Need to move the teams that aren't making money to somewhere else.

Moving a team like Arizona to another Canadian city won't grow the game, it will just stop it from losing so much money.

Playoffs are fine. Baseball started this one game playoff between wild card teams a couple years ago but baseball playoffs only had 8 playoff teams.

As far as I know playoff revenue is gravy for the owners.

The owners love Gary .Since he has come in he has taken the league to heights they have never dreamed of. His television deals and radio deals and franchise expansions bring the owners more money that they thought they would ever make with their club.

We hate him but owners love him. He also did save Edmonton Calgary

I'm not saying move ARZ or teams of the like just to Canada...put it in a market that makes sense.

Watching teams like ARZ and FLA bleed cash every year with barely 4000 asses in the seats most home games is getting a bit ridiculous.

Personally I think Bettman deserves no credit for EDM CAL as they would have been just fine without him....my take. But Bettman does pull that card from time/time to deflect away form other issues.

Like I said Bettman holds all the power . It doesn't matter what we like . He has the support of the ownership.

He shuts down a season they come back and make record revenues.

San Diego Gulls attendance. That's outstanding for an AHL team. 8th largest city in American.

I wonder Indianapolis would support a team.

Well that's the kicker on most of these options. Building one wouldn't be too hard if they really wanted a team to move there.

TLDR....a team needs solid young and veteran players to win, which is the ultimate objective. Last night showed what missing both Beagle and Sutter looks like.

I agree we miss having one of those players in the lineup, I disagree that we miss both.

I don't think Bettman views Arizona or Miami as a problem. I think when they hit 32 teams they will take a break .

Ya, having both seems a bit redundant now. I don't think management was expecting a start like this, so they hedged their bets on two vets taking on the harder minutes.

See how the season progresses and what kind of decline happens, if a large one happens. Would rather move Beagle at some point, but since that's unlikely and less a return, time to move Sutter?

Why is it redundant? If you have a shutdown line what would be better?

Using your point about growing the game, San Diego then, would be counted out, as they already have a fanbase.
