No i dont..
Buyouts, minors, trade, Lucic island? Who knows, maybe he could be serviceable.. The next CBA maybe the leafs could push for easier buyout options on bad contracts.. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Buyout costs you cap space for a player that doesn't play.
Minors costs you 5.1 AAV instead of 6 AAV.
Trade? Yeah right.
Lucic Island? Not without a legit injury. Notice how Lupul, Horton and Robidas all never played again? It's because they were actually injured. It wasn't fake.
At 6 AAV, there's no (frank)ing way he's useful. |

Leafs would be trading a more proven player for two pieces of "potential" and a salary dump.
Puju is a big body, so is Lucic, which is what the Leafs need. Bouchard is a solid RHD top prospect. But that cap hit needs to be manageable because Lucic is less than half the player he use to be and that contract isn't a pretty one. If they could get it down to 4 AAV, he might score 15 playing beside Tavares and would provide size and physicality that nobody else on the team has with the occasional fight. |

What if the Oil were willing to retain a couple million? - Wildschwein
Different story. Lucic at 6 AAV is different than Lucic at 3 AAV, especially if you give him a shot in the top-six with Tavares and Marner and see if a strong cycle game can get him scoring again. |

On the table, under the table, I’ll slip them whatever they want if they take
Lucic. |

So you'd take Nylander for Bouchard, Puljujärvi and Lucic with 3 million retained? |

It's ridiculous. The ass I'm facing this week in my fantasy league has Giroux and Couturier.
The NHL should eliminate hometown scoring/stats keeping. |

Not if Bouchard is included, no. I’d be comfortable with retaining, just not that much. |

Can imagine Dubas reading this today. The near mention of Lucic must bring a big chuckle. Maybe if Horton was off the books. On another note, a really good pregame ceremony prior to last night"s game. And a big thumbs up to Joe Bowen during a stoppage in play. Saw the old eyes moisten up after the big wave. Again, he and Neale were a fantastic pair. Never forget the night they were laughing so hard during play, they had difficulty composing themselves. Priceless! |

You can't acquire him and put him on the 4th line and expect him to "protect" anyone. Especially at 6 AAV as you suggested. - Unholy_Goalie
The term left on his contract scares me as much as his cap hit, if not more. |

You're getting a proven 1st line player in Nylander and giving up two unknowns and an otherwise untradeable salary dump. If Bouchard isn't included, there's no point anymore because he's the piece the Leafs actually really need. |

Much more manageable at 3 AAV than 6 though. Brown is making 2 by comparison. If Lucic could score 15 goals, hit everything that moves and occasionally fight, he'd be fine at 3 AAV. |

Not saying I wouldn't part with Bouchard. Just saying that if the decision were mine, I wouldn't retain 3 mill if he was part of the deal. 2 mill perhaps but not 3. |

Brown makes sense given his age, low cost and short term. At this point Lucic can barely play now, let alone in a few years from now.
Keep Nylander. Avoid the lucic mess. |
