Marner is scheduled to hit bonuses as well as Matthews.
Adds another 5.5 million I think and it carries over to next season. I need to read up on it again but I know having Willie at 9 million will not help.
I think it’s over for him. - Santo_44
Willie at 9? What?
He's getting more than he's asking for? |

I’m starting to change my tune. I think he gets signed long term in the next 10-14 days at pastanak money. Something everyone thought was reasonable months ago. - bryant
That would save them 2 months of cap hit for this year, brilliant.
Edit: Dubas and Shanny planned it. |

There are only three outcomes, there are no conclusions being implied, the likely outcome IMO is a trade at some point. - winsix
Yeah and how do you know it’s a failure...
You could love the trade. Don’t jump to conclusions |

If he signs 6x7
His cap hit will be around 9 million this year. Around 6.5 the following years.
Depends on what day he signs but it’s the way it works. The Athletic put out an article on it. |

I don't think they were physically dominated, outside of a couple chara body's lams that went unpenalized. - burn
And Marner being crosschecked and hit 15 seconds after he passed the puck all night.

Carl Grundstrom earned the first star of the hockey game with two goals and now has eleven points (5G 6A) in ten games played. This was Grundstrom's first two goal game of the year and the @TorontoMarlies are 3-0-0-1 when he scores a goal.

How do you know that they didn't try? I think that none of this is a surprise to anyone in the Leafs' organization.
This leak to Friedman is nothing more than Dubas sending a message to Willy's group, but at the same time, doing his due diligence on an asset now, getting legit offers in play vs. waiting until the last week when the vultures come out and offer scraps to attempt to take advantage of a desperate Dubas.
I still think he signs on a bridge deal and part of me wonders if that was the expected outcome all along (and maybe one they preferred). - gravyface
Dubas said early summer/late spring he hadn't started contract negotiations with nylander.
Should have signed him prior jt. |

Leafs have over 12mil in projected cap space anyways, so even if his cap hit goes to 9mil this year, someone they have room for him plus still have space to make other moves |

Cap hit after the first year = (First year salary * (season days remaining / total season days) + contract value remaining) / contract years
First year’s cap hit = cap hit after the first year * (total season days / season days remaining
If he signs today his cap hit for this season is 8.6 million for a 6x7 contract. If he signs Dec 1st it’s 9.7 million.

Dougie Hamilton would be a great scapegoat on the Leafs. Every time he makes a mistake and Nylander scores for Carolina we can poop kittens, it'll be so Leafy. - Zezel
That will be what occurs no matter who we trade nykander for. |

Cap friendly says $15.4 million. But ya cap space isn’t an issue this year.
Edit: was the difference between projected and current? |

They have less than that. I don’t know the exact number, but I think it is 11-12. But if they sign Willie Dec 1st they will have about 1.5-3 million in space...not enough. |

The cap the rest of the years would only save about 250 -300 000 savings not 500 000 i believe.

Ya it said projected $12.2 million, but current is $15.4. I’m not sure what difference between projected and current means.

The athletic (hockey) is made up of former main stream media.
Also, sportsnet reported this a while ago.

Wasn’t it the Bergeron short side goal? (1st) or was that the 2nd...anyways..that goal kinda sucked for Sparks.
