Edmonton gets to shred cap space, and finally gets the guy who rides shotgun with McDavid for the next 8 years.. But it wont come cheap.

Toronto gets to keep the current roster but greatly improves our fwd group and physical play. Nurse would be a nice player to trade later... I don't really want him long-term

I honestly believe this can be fixed with the Leafs coaching and skating coaches staff..

At least to the point where him at 3mil isnt the end of the world..

Brown also does nothing physically and is a 10-15 goal scorer.

Lucic is the dump, the real bright spot is Bouchard on an ELC and Puljujärvi who is a good top-six prospect with tremendous size. Would fit nicely beside Matthews the way he plays too.

As you pointed out previously, he's a shadow of what he was, and the game has changed somewhat since his glory days. Leafs trade opportunities are better with teams that do not have cap issues IMO.

Definitely no to a trade including Lucic. Even at 50%+ salary retained, he would occupy a roster spot that can be (and already is) filled by someone cheaper, younger and better. Not a smart way to add value, even if the other trade pieces are good. Plus, the current D actually looks pretty good so far. I'd rather keep Nylander and watch the Leafs decimate the opposition with its ridiculous offense. This is a legitimate playoff team even without Matthews and Nylander
