That's fair, I think maybe a new genre name/categorization, maybe "old classic rock"? Like "golden oldies" for stuff like swing music, and big band and 50's and earlier stuff. Because "classic" usually means 25 years old and older. It's like hearing Metallica on Classic Rock radio stations. It doesn't feel right.

You also have to realize that they allowed that kind of music to become mainstream for better or worse, and how many people tried to copy them?

The POINT is that unless you are going to compare bands based on a single criteria (which would give you thousands of "the best bands" out there), the answer is absolutely an opinion, not a fact.
