Laine has been tried with Scheifele and Wheeler and has shown he does not work there. Interestingly people on this board seem to forget that Laine played his best when Copp was centering him, prior to Stastny's arrival.
Ehlers looks great with Scheifele and Wheeler and I would not touch that. Connor is proving what I have talked about all season, he has high hockey IQ and I believe he can carry his own line. - TheUltimateJet

Roster management seems so irrational, you'd think it was a ploy to manage future contracts. |

If it was anyone but Maurice at the helm, I’d agree with you |

Laine is 20 years old, to think he can’t have chemistry with shief and wheels because of 10-15 games or so as a sample size when he is this young doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Ehlers has been better, not great. Connor is carrying a line so I’m trying to give him more responsibility plus if your big on chemistry than him and Roslovic make perfect sense. But I have no problem trying Laine with Copp and one of Perreault or petan |

Fair enough, however when Ehlers and Connor were put with Scheifele and Wheeler, they were also 20 years old and they quickly developed chemistry on that line. Just saying... |

They’re also more or less stylistically identical, while Laine is the polar opposite |

digging in a bit to the Logan Shaw signing, I see:
*Jets have lots of roster spots open (add the Everberg release)
*one of very few right hand shooters on Jets
*good size, doesn't take a lot of penalties
*NHL experience, PK experience (with the RH shot)
*at 26 he's late in his developmental window... Does he have more game to offer with proper support and better fit?
*two-way contract, low risk depth to Jets
*strong two-way player addition for the Moose. |

He’s basically a worse Thorburn. Moose staple. |

I see it as the moose didn’t re sign some key vets last year, buddy Robinson, Cormier to name a couple and thy are not very good. This is a move to help the moose get going.

The kings are open for business,
I think kopitar would cost too much in a trade and on our cap. What about Jeff carter and Muzzin? I’d trade Vesalainen, Stanly, Lemieux and Kulikov (need the salary dump) doubt that would be enough but I’d do it in a heart beat. We could fit it into the cap this year, next year would be more of a problem. |

I’d do it. Muzzin shores up the top 4, and Carter is still going strong, so decline is likely only an issue after we’ve won |

Ross you are speaking my language
To LA: Bryan Little, Dmitri Kulikov, Kristian Vesalainen (To take both Little and Kulikov's contracts), 2019 1st Round Pick, 2020 Conditional 1st round pick (Pick becomes a 3rd rounder if Jets do not win the cup in either 2019 or 2020)

Are you serious? that is a terrible trade for the Jets. Sell out the present and the future. |

Yes I am! Vesalainen is not going to make this roster. Who is he expected to beat out for a position? Wheeler, no, Ehlers, no, Laine, no, Connor, no, Roslovic or Petan, no. He’s a spare part and he may never develop, see Lemieux.... Little and Kulikov are our present? Kopitar is a severe upgrade over the two and is a Selke award winner. His contract is balanced by the two going out. The only major piece being moved is the 2019 first rounder. |

I would like to see Petan, Roslovic and Laine as I think their skill would be an exciting 3rd line. - islansjet

What's really ridiculous is that you didn't reply to my rationale for making the move. |
