I’m praying for additions to the lineup next year in...Anders Lee, Jack Hughes/Kaapo Kakko, and Tyler Myers. Boquist and Mitchell both make the team. Much better roster already. - EnzoD
If the Hawks sign Myers and have him, Joki, Mitchell, and Boqvist all RHD who plays/can play on their off side to go with Keith, Forsling, etc. whoever else is on the roster. Not to mention the albatross of Seabrook's contract as well |

He had 52 points last year. Tied for 102nd in the NHL. Tied for 88th among NHL forwards.
He's a legitimate top 6 forward in the NHL, arguably a borderline 1st line player if you consider that there are 90 of those in the NHL and he was among the top 90 most productive in the league.
Oh, and he's 22 years old.
You wanna do this AGAIN? What are you bringing up/trading for that's going to be better? Let the kid make his mistakes and grow into the player you need him to be instead of poopting all over him because he's not there yet. - BINGO!
Playing most of the year with Kane, he produced those points. Without Kane, not so much.

Can the Hawks loan Seabs to the Federal League? - riozzo
If the whole D didn't stink so bad and he wasn't paid 6.8 per, Seabs wouldn't be under the microscope so badly.
Rutta, Manning, Davidson, Keith, Gus and Joki at times all have been victimized. Keith in particular is coughing up the puck like none other and as usual, having his shots go off shin pads.

Need a high quality gm? Q is available. - Savoy
It would be kind of interesting to know what type of players Q would go after if he had authority to do that. Keeping in mind he would have to work under the same constraints as every other GM with salary caps, term, drafting, scouting, player development, etc.
Someone put the bug in one of the beat writer's ear that that would be a good sit down interview with Q. |

The answer is - you wouldn't have as many points.
If you're a scorer (assists or goals), you score; if you aren't, you don't.
Good to be playing with Kane - but you still have to fight for position, get to where Kane can get you the puck, get your shot off with enough accuracy to beat the goalie.
You need the skills to be able to succeed with Kane. - StLBravesFan
Really? Thanks for the lesson on how to play with Kane. |

NS is proof that fancy stats mean very little. He actually has his career high "Corsi For" number this season.
This supports my theory that this stat is pretty meaningless, because when you watch him play, the minutes his line has possession are largely ones where they play keep away on the perimeter leading to nothing.
They should modify this stat to incorporate a line scoring while in possession. Much more meaningful. |

Or Dach/Kakko/Podkolzin/Lavoie/Kaliyev/Boldy..there is good group of forwards coming. If Hawks suck all year they are in good position to upgrade their talent pool in forwards. - MjulQvist
Exciting draft next summer. The question, though, is that with a deep forward pool for the 1st round, will the Hawks still draft a puck-moving defenseman that fits the mold of the modern NHL blueliner?
With such a deep opening round at forward, shouldn't 2019 be the draft year when the Hawks draft to fill an organizational need rather than taking best player available? I know there's a lot of debate on that question and I don't have the answer. Just interested to see how the Hawks answer. My gut is that Stan has an answer and the scouting staff may likely have a different one. |

I wouldn't say that. Seabrook looked ready to tango with Martinook. I like how Martinook stood up for Svechnikov, especially since I'd like to see the Hawks do that for each other, but it's not like Martinook intimidated Seabrook and would have taken him to town. Seabrook, while older and slower, is still a tough cookie. |

All it takes is a few lucky bounces for that to change. If anything, isn't this what we wanted if the Hawks were gonna suck? Schmaltz to have a average season so we could sign him to a bridge deal (3x3, 3x2, etc.) and have better financial flexibility to add another Top 6 forward to the team. I don't think Schmaltz should go by any means. Does he make some plays that frustrate ya at times? Of course he does most players do. The kid is still young and learning the game and finally doesn't have to worry about being demoted on lines or being benched if he makes a mistake. Schmaltz is a piece that we NEED on this team if we wanna get back to the Playoffs anytime soon. |

I think you could argue that they went for need last year drafting both Boqvist and Beaudin in the 1st Rd. Honestly with Joki, Boqvist, Beaudin, Mitchell, and the 17 other Defensive prospects this team has now I'd be surprised if they didn't add an impact forward with their 1st Rd pick this year regardless of where they pick at. Unless Stan is banking on having too many defensemen that he can steal a team desperate for one at some point like Nashville and New Jersey did. |

I agree with the other poster, Seabrook is still one tough SOB when need be he would’ve beat that kids ass if the referees would’ve ilike the old days “let them go “ |
