Bills waived QB Nathan Peterman.
It comes the same day coach Sean McDermott said he was "still confident" in Peterman. - SABRES 89
Well, to be fair, he's probably still confident in him. Just not on the Bills.
And have i mentioned recently that football sucks?

The thing to consider is Skinner is one of the few wingers who can create his own goal scoring and Eichel's one of the few who actually inflates his wingers shooting percentage.
He and his agent knew exactly what they were doing when he nixed LA and waived for BUF. - Sabresfan-365
Then the question might be is he just trying to inflate his next deal to the highest bidder by doing that or does he want to continue to play with a center like jack for 7 or 8 more years? |

Yup, he's made it really hard to walk away. When indecision sets in on a forum, you know JB has a tough call. 9m is a tough call. - Lunaion
There's a domino effect in either scenario as well. This decision probably creates three other questions. |

The guy who says no to LA and yes to BUF probably doesn't give a poop. Like Nylander, I think he just wants to win and get the best deal he can. It's his best opportunity at securing his future.
If BUF matched his price, I think he'd re-sign. |

My point was more to illustrate that unlike say kane, there is no real sunk cost here. Nothing of value was given and even in the "worst case" you still come out with double the value you did in the summer. - Sabresfan-365
I get your point.
But it is kinda of the gamblers thought process...wins a poopload, doesn't walk away, losses 2/3rds of it...
says he's ahead ... which technically is correct, but ignores the real loss of 2/3rds.
I'd like the 3/3rds not the 1/3rd. |

Hopefully his agent comes up with a price b4 tdl for our sake so we know what to do with him. It would be sweet if his agent says I want 8m per which would be 56m over 7 years on the open market and bots can stretch that 56m over 8 years making his cap hit 7m per. Make it 59m total at 7.33per over 8 years. |

Except nobody ever made or lost anything til the chips are cashed in. Same thing with the stock market, no money is ever made or lost till you actually sell the stock. |

not sure the metaphor works here, since to get 3/3 you have to pay a poop ton of money?
The gamble is the contract itself. if you pay to get the 3/3 there's a chance it hurts you worse for a longer term. They're already ahead no matter what. |

I guess, but that's like a gambler who was up $10K, finished up $5K and was still happy because he finished ahead(not a perfect simile, I know, but it illustrates my point). A bit of a hollow victory. Yes, obviously something is better than nothing.
Edit: A bunch of degenerates we are. lol |

That would be outrageously good. But agreed, Im hoping the 8th year can help with the AAV.
I still blame chiarelli. Like if I was Skinner's agent, I wouldn't ask for a dime less than McDavid's female dog. |

I hear what everyone is saying, but if Skinner doesn’t get re-signed, we lose.
He’s a perfect fit at a perfect arc of our rebuild.
He’s too good |

Sure.
Except you control when to cash out.
That is the point, right.
You control when you walk out with the cash. |

Sure. Now is the time. Dahlin will be a 10 mil player making a fraction of that starting next year, and Casey will be better and cheap.
This is exactly why I’m glad they made certain trades.
We can now afford to get an elite goal scorer no matter the cost for the next 3-4 years minimum |

If I didn't have reservations about our goaltending and our blueline wasn't as a whole totally awful, I might agree.
Our best offensive blueliner is an 18 year old rookie, and best defensive guy is a college FA playing sheltered minutes. They need 2 top four d-men and potentially a starter (although im pretty bullish on Luukkonen)
Edit: college fa signing* before anyone gets me on that |

they can't do the 8th year until after the deadline, really tough to wait that long

While I agree, I also think JB can figure it out.
Skinner is a top 5-10 winger. Keep him. It’s almost (not quite) like debating on whether to re-sign Eichel. Elite players are worth it every time |

IMO, there is a very slim chance Skinner isn’t a long term Sabre.
-He waived to come here
- He’s close to home
- He’s having a career year with Eichel
- Hes on an up and coming team
What’s not to like? |
