You made a fool of yourself when you called Nylander a grade B asset at best.

Your credibility is at an all time low for me.

“Sorry”

Mine is?? You think a player who, while having the talent of an a asset, has refused to sign for market value, could do the same to any team trading for him, and is currently not doing anything to help his team win... somehow that player is a top asset?!?! What kind of fantasy land do you live in? When considering his value you don’t as a fan get to selectively forget about the off ice concerns. They absolutely effect value

Well, either you are a troll or just a complete idiot - you pick!
Saying that a talent like Nylander is now a B grade trade chip because he is holding out...as well as that he doesn't seem to care if he plays hockey because he lives a life of Luxury and can go play in the KHL (for half the money) - completely indicates that the poster is either a Troll or an Idiot!

See previous post. I’m neither a troll or an idiot but you however have failed to put any sound argument or proof that those statements are incorrect.

If he was a top asset he would either be worth the money hes asking for and be playing... or traded for a valuable return. Neither has happened. Not a top asset.

There is a reason the young man has the confidence to sit out. Do you know it? No? Then stop throwing names at posters because you don’t like what they say makes you uncomfortable.

Wait, are you saying every top asset is worth 8million dollars? And because Nylander is not worth 8million dollars, he is not a top asset? Is that your argument?

I like what you are saying, it gives me something to laugh at in a busy work day.....and yeah, you are an idiot!

And deliberately twisting what I posted because you can’t come up with a valid counterpoint. Either you’re being obtuse or you really have no idea how the league works. I feel like I just tried to debate with my toddler. In the same sense ultimately I guess it kinda makes me an idiot after all.

Why is Nylander asking for $8M?

(a) His numbers are similar to Marner and Eichel. The latter is making $10M and Marner is estimated to be Worth around $8.5M. Pastranak is a steal at $6.75. The last time you went to your boss for a raise i bet that you used the higher comparables.

(b) You dont typically get a NTC on your first deal if its Under $8M. Everybody and their grandmother has heard that the leafs need D and their best trade chip is WN. He wants to be a Leaf and win here

(c) If he does get signed and then traded....lets say to ARZ for OEL (just for poops and giggles) he would be their most skilled player. If that happens no way hes happy about making just $1M more than Galchenyuk for 8years while out-performing him significantly.

This is why the Leafs are going to have to raise their offer frm $6M to the $7M-$7.25M range

if we were talking 7.25M the deal would be done already

How do we know they are offering only 6 million?
And you bring up Marner and Eichel and yet ignore the fact Larkin just signed for 6.1 million per.
Nylander is nowhere close to Eichel. Injuries are the only reason he hasn't scored 80+ points.
Pastrynak wasn't viewed as a steal when he signed that deal but his stats were still better than Willys.

Nylander is nowhere close to Marner and Eichel. Nylander doesnt play defense, cant kill penalties and has only topped 20 goals once. He is as good as Ehlers which is the contract he should be expecting to receive.

Tanner is out to lunch saying they wont get fair value. How does he know what they will get? He wont be going to the Coyotes either unless they pony up OEL.
Look for Philly to come knocking with Sanheim a prospect and a first.

Should have taken a risk like the Jets did and signed him the previous summer(a year earlier) if 6.0M is the number. There is no way Chevy could have gotten Ehlers to sign that contact this summer after putting up back to back 60 point seasons. 6.75M would be the new 6.0M.
