If Laughton isn't a good enough center the 4th line in Hak's mind, how does he make the leap to 3C? - Feanor
They don't have much choice. Plus Laughton has been playing well so far. Give him a chance. He's at least a threat to score unlike Lehtera and Weal. |

It's funny how things work. A while back many were questioning Laughton and his future as an NHL player. Now understandably, many are liking him as a player. Patience. All subject to change of course during the season. |

No one here likes the idea of a headed monster down the middle of G, Coots, Patrick right?
I know I don't because we are then exposed at LW. Just want to get your thoughts. |

It's not really funny.
Sports are a "what have you done for me lately" business.
This is why i never get attached to players but just teams. If he stops producing I won't be a fan of his. Right now he is playing well. That needs to continue. |

Well rightfully so. He showed what he could be but then had gaps of nothing.
He's off to a good start. Can he sustain it for 82 games? |

Fully healthy, I wouldn't be opposed to moving G to center and having that three headed monster down the middle but with the 2nd best LW on the team still out I'm not going there. |

Hard to see them splitting G and Coots at this point, they mesh really well and the line is playing great.

Both good points. I don't ever see it happening. |

Do young players get a chance to develop into the player we hope they'll become?

What were the causes of his sub par play?

He's listed as the 3C.
Until he's traded for Shea Weber. - jmatchett383

I think you’re heavily missing a good chunk of people who wanted Laughton to get a look at 3C dating back to last season. Yeah some were impatient with him, but a lot of people (myself included) felt he was never given a real chance, had two scary injuries, and to some degree was mismanaged. |

I like Carter, but that's a lot of years left, he's been getting hurt a lot and he's what, 34 in January?
I'll pass.

If I had said all fans or everyone in my post, you might have a point. You're right, there were many people who still supported Laughton as a player.

I have watched him this year, he can still skate and still has that release. 4 years is a lot but 5.3 is manageable. I wouldn't either unless it was down the stretch and all was coming together and Carter would make them a deep playoff favorite.
I really hope Moose has a career year...

If were talking to the Kings, I'd try and pick up Trevor Lewis. He's a good penalty killer and only has one year left beyond this season at a pretty reasonable cap hit of 2 million.
Looking at pure rentals, if the Devils aren't in playoff position, I'd try and get Brian Boyle who is UFA after this season and has a current cap hit of only 2.55 million.
And yes, Moose having a career year would be fantastic! |

It seemed to me that the organization wasn't sure what they wanted to do with Laughton. He was all over the place, center, wing, top 6 six, bottom six. Sent him back to the AHL to work on being a center. Came back up as a center and then moved to wing for the playoffs.
I am happy for the kid. |

I don't think it has anything to do with good enough. I think it was roster construction. They started the season with Vorobyev there so Laughton was on the wing where hes was pretty good. Vorobyev wasn't going to play wing.
Also I don't see Lehtara playing wing as Laughton brings more speed there.
Vorobyev is in Lehigh now. Weise is playing well. I don't see them taking Weise out so logically Laughton, whose playing well, shifting to center and taking Weal's spot seems logical in constructing this roster. - J35Bacher
Surely it's more logical for Laughton to move to 4C before he moves to 3C? |

I like the idea and also dont think we'd be exposed at LW. The bigger risk to me is disrupting Girouxs mojo since moving to LW with Coots. It would give them 3 very dangerous lines on paper. Key being...on paper.
