I think Laughton has done it the old fashioned way....he's earned it. I think Laughton has earned the trust from the coach for being probably the most consistant two way forward up till now this season. - landros 2
The coach doesn't trust Laughton enough to play him much at ES. Same as last year.

Weal getting 12:29 per game at ES, and Lehtera getting 8:09, and yet more of the projected/desired lineups on here have Lehtera in them than Weal. Is that because Lehtera's presence on the PK is crucial to its ongoing success?
Usually when players come back from injury in the NHL it's the healthy guys who are playing the least who make way. |

Is the ice time a product of Laughton himself or him being on the 4th line? - FlyerFan16
The ice time is controlled by the coach who has mainly played Laughton on the 4th line who get less ES ice time than the first three lines. |

NAK and Weal are out when JVR and Raffl are back. Laughton is 3C flanked by JVR and Simmer. If you don't like having 2 power forwards on the same line, drop Lindblom down to the 3rd and move JVR up to 2nd.
4th line is Weise/Lehtera/Raffl.
Just my 2 cents. - Pelle31Forever
Never understood why JvR and Simmonds are thought to be the same player. They both have net presence, but that is basically where the comparison ends. Even how they score in close is different, Simmonds is more smash where JvR has better hands and uses finesse. JvR is a better skater and doesn't really play as physical.
Lindblom's play style closer resembles Simmonds than JvR. |

You're doing it wrong.
You're only allowed to compare Lindblom to another Swedish guy. |

Thanks for that.... You commented that coach doesn't trust Laughton based on ice time. I've heard the coach go out of his way a few times this year to compliment Laughton. Maybe his ES ice time is due to the role he is being asked to fill and not that he isn't trusted. |

It's not really funny.
Sports are a "what have you done for me lately" business.
This is why i never get attached to players but just teams. If he stops producing I won't be a fan of his. Right now he is playing well. That needs to continue. - J35Bacher
and ….funny how some guys wanted Hak fired and now that same guy says he's not going anywhere...because of 5-6 good games in a row. I guess he learned how to coach again... Fans change their minds all the time and your right …."it's what have you done for me lately"
10 months ago Doug Peterson was a genius....now? today? not so much.

I've seen that. But to me Laughton is forcing him to change that...slowly but surely I believe Laughton will win the 3 C role.... I guess we'll see.

you could make the case for Sanheim as well....limited in minutes but really has played well enough to deserve more.

It's funny how things work. A while back many were questioning Laughton and his future as an NHL player. Now understandably, many are liking him as a player. Patience. All subject to change of course during the season. - MJL
I was absolutely questioning this. It took him five years to become an nhl regular. He’s been fun to watch this season but I’m still disappointed that he never became our sure fire third line center. |

I like the idea and also dont think we'd be exposed at LW. The bigger risk to me is disrupting Girouxs mojo since moving to LW with Coots. It would give them 3 very dangerous lines on paper. Key being...on paper.
JVR Giroux Simmonds
Laughton Couturier Konecny
Lindblom Patrick Voracek
Raffl Lehtera Kubel - Baxter27

It seemed to me that the organization wasn't sure what they wanted to do with Laughton. He was all over the place, center, wing, top 6 six, bottom six. Sent him back to the AHL to work on being a center. Came back up as a center and then moved to wing for the playoffs.
I am happy for the kid. - FlyerFan16
I've always liked Laughton. I like the pace he plays at and how he hounds the puck and his motor is always full throttle. I just think he's a better winger.

Would be fun to see a crash line...

Lindblom has a lot of playmaking ability and his confidence is building. He has more defensive awareness also.
