NHL today has gone soft. Wilson made contact in the right time, his feet never left the ice, and the only reason the hit was even close to the head was because Sundqvist burried his head when he shot. Welcome to the NHL Oskar, lift your head up.

it's not related at all

Especially considering that, again, this was reduced by an independent arbitrator which Wilson filed. Schmidt chose to not go to an independent arbitrator after his appeal. In both appeals, the NHL chose to not reduce the suspension.

Just a bad comparison from our esteemed writer.

It's the NHLPA showing they got the players back, they don't care what he did it's just business for the client. It's no different than someone robbing a house, getting stuck in the garage with no water and the lawyer trying to make the criminal look like a victim for a reduced sentence. Pure and simple.

How in anyway does this change anything? He threw his shoulder into his head. It was a dirty blind side hit. How many guys has Wilson hurt with these negligent dirt bag shots?

I blame the Players Association more than the League. They appeal the suspension, that was well-deserved, at the expense of the next member of the Association who gets a concussion from a Wilson hit. Better to protect a paycheck than the health of a player seems to be their position.

What's the over/under on how many games Wilson plays before trying to decapitate someone again?

I'll say...5

Has nothing to do with previous hits, he's going in for the hit and Oscar looks at him and does nothing but bury his head and take a weak shot on net...

I get the anger but it's a sport with checking and you have to be prepared...Oscar gets ready for the check and there's no head shot.

So now we're victim blaming? It was a meaningless preseason game and Wilson trucked him in the skull. It's irrelevant what Sundqvist did, unless he did something to put Wilson in a position where a dangerous hit was unavoidable.

what a total joke. i dont care if its a 3rd party arbitrator. guys like parros and daly wont change either. terrible message sent regardless of who sent it. i hope the NHL gets hit in the wallet so they get the message because the goon squad isnt. that old "dont put yourself in that position" crap is over.

I dont pay to see matt cooke, tom wilson, etc skate. i want to see the talent on the ice. not some caveman who chicken wings someone because he cant skate as fast. Wilson is a hard learner. he will do it again and potentially end someones career.

remember all of the people who defended bertuzzi on the moore hit?

I dont know how people "defended" it but my 2 cents on the Bertuzzi hit was that it was a stupid move. Bertuzzi was angry\frustrated over a headshot to Naslund and wanted to hurt the guy, I dont think he intended for that end result but that doesnt really matter. At the end of the day though the whole incident could have been avoided if Moore fought Bertuzzi. It would be like flaunting $100 bill in a shady neighbourhood and then getting robbed. Yea it isnt right you were robbed but you could have avoided it by not flaunting all that cash.

In a VERY odd ruling, an Arbitrator has reduced Tom Wilson's suspension to 14 games and he will be back IMMEDIATELY... THIS IS ABSURD. Meanwhile, Nate Schmidt still sits...

What the....?

- Eklund

Tom Wilson gets to play.

Meanwhile, Pete Rose is banned for life from professional baseball, and Donald Sterling is banned from the NBA for life.

What the....?

Moore did fight someone earlier in the game, and this was the second game after the initial Naslund hit. So, Moore probably thought it should have been over, especially considering that he fought another Canuck earlier. I think it's poor taste to say Moore was obligated to fight Bertuzzi either way, but especially given the fact that he squared up already over it.
edit; also, I'm sorry, but what is with the horrible comparisons in these comments today?

The only person who challenged Moore that night was Matt Cooke, who he willingly dropped the gloves with and fought. Bertuzzi didn't challenge him, he skated up behind him, grabbed his jersey, and sucker punched him.

Moore could have avoided it by just never hitting anyone ever and also having his head on a swivel looking for someone tomahawking him with a haymaker from behind.

Totally reckless on his part and 100% his fault that his career ended.

I guess you could give Wilson a charging call....I don't believe he was aiming for his head...and "the victim" should have held up after seeing him coming rather then taking a weak shot and putting himself in a terrible position and it's totally relevant...

If Moore played baseball instead he could of avoided the whole incident. That's what he gets for waving a $100 bill in a strip club.
