Hey Guys!

Good luck tonight! With a bit of puck luck it should be an easy win for the Oil.

Cheers from your BFF's in the Flames thread!

Once again the team's biggest problems are defending on the PK and not scoring. One's a very easy fix that this head coach has done before; the other is easier than Todd makes it, but still likely requires at least one trade.

Not necessarily in order, but I have the following players in a hockey pool this year:

McDavid (chose first out of 19!!!)
Draisaitl
Nuge
Domi
Gallagher
Klefbom
Rattie
Talbot (2nd goalie)

there are many others (including Eichel and Skinner) but these guys play each other tonight!

We're pumped for this game in our house. Father vs. son!

Hoping for a 7-6 Oilers win! haha

Did we not just hire 3 assistants this past season in part to help with the PP and PK?......the obvious need for scoring is a winger for McDavid or Drai or even Nuge if Todd wants to keep the other two together....you suggested Pearson before I remember that....I’m trying to think if there is anyone else out there that fills the need that makes sense within the cap....Skinner sure would have looked great on McDavids wing ....if the Sens slide Stone might be up for grabs but can we afford him?....zero interest in Nylander because that’s just not possible....is a guy like Saad worth the risk? I’m just spitballing guys from teams that aren’t doing good right now

One of those dimensions (PK GA) is completely fixable and I maintain that the other one is just a proper coach away from being possible.

Hoffman would've been perfect. Costed next to nothing, shoots regularly and well and has a track record of scoring goals. (frank) his possible off-ice issues (nothing has come of this, has it?); we need to SCORE so we can WIN. Winning is all that should matter for a team in the NH-(frank)ing-L.

Now we have to give up quality assets for a likely lesser player because this team was thinking about something other than winning games.

I have heard zero on that situation and let’s face it Karlsson was gone from the Sens regardless of everything else happening or he would have signed their offer.....you know come to think of it we don’t even need to limit the search to just a winger we could try to find another C.....Drai and Nuge have shown they can play the wing so that could be another answer as well

Agreed. Acquiring good players is what's necessary. We're already an undesirable location for players to come to; in what world do we get to be picky about the good players that are available?

Wait till the AHL team has played around 15-20 games then kick this imaginary plan into action.

Fire Todd and promote Manny- sink or swim

Yamamoto and Russell for Nyquist and a conditional 2nd (based on resigning)

Nurse for Pearson, Brodzinski and a 2020 2nd

Lucic (2.5mil retained) and our 2020 1st to NYR for a 2019 4th

Puljujarvi and Kassian for Faulk (I'd prefer Pesce, but unlikely)

Caggiula for Hagelin

2019 3rd for Gunnarsson

Nuge- McDavid- Rattie
Pearson- Draisaitl- Nyquist
Rieder- Marody- Chiasson
Hagelin- Strome- Khaira
Brodzinski and Brodziak

Klefbom- Larsson
Gunnarsson- Faulk
Jones- Benning
Gravel

Play fast and hard. Revert to a box PK. Manny gets full control of the PP. Let Talbot and Koskinen duke it out the rest of the year and watch Talbot likely come out on top. Next year, add Benson to the mix and wait for Bouchard to get a year in the AHL and take over for Faulk after that. Draft C, LD and RW with our 2019 picks to set ourselves up to fill positions of weakness within the organization.

Adjust coaching and management based on the results the rest of the year. Keep K. Gretzky and whichever coaches excel if at all possible.

Hells no on Nyquist

Nurse for Pearson, Brodzinski and a 2020 2nd

Not sure I'd be into this one... I think you have to keep Nurse and find him someone to compliment his skill set.

Lucic (2.5mil retained) and our 2020 1st to NYR for a 2019 4th

Retain money and give up a lottery pick ?

Puljujarvi and Kassian for Faulk (I'd prefer Pesce, but unlikely)

I'd be open to something like but it would bite us in the ass hard.

Caggiula for Hagelin

Sure why not.

2019 3rd for Gunnarsson

Again sure why not.

I like this line up so much better then what we currently have and we keep Benson, Bouchard and Bear (you said he was struggling but there is still time)....like you I would prefer Pesce but at least with Faulk we wouldn’t have give Garrison any PP time which is a win by itself....second line has the potential to be dangerous if Pearson and Nyquist can get to 20+ goals like they have before....4th line is an upgrade....3rd line I’m not so sure about but it really can’t be any worse then it is right now....2 real PP units instead of one....way more positives then negatives here

Sure. I mean why the (frank) not; it's not as if the current squad will get it done. My well of patience has (frank)ing run dry.

I can’t blame any Oiler fan for saying this especially for those of us that have been around for this whole disaster known as a rebuild
