If the Canucks play 500 or better into January, would you like to see them be buyers or sellers at the TDL? Keep in mind they only really have to play .500 puck and they will likely make the playoffs at this point.
- neem55

They still need to be sellers imo, more work to be done via the draft.

Montreal for me. Domi is the least talked about player and is just dominating. looking back on the Galchenyuk trade I think a few of us have change our minds about who won that trade. Galchenyuk has been not bad in Arizona so far though.

10 games played, 3 goals 5 assists and the team is 6-3-1 since his return. Both good players and both teams are benefiting.

Were getting to the 1/4 season mark, you can't really say that meaningfully for much longer IMO. two more weeks and it's a moot point.
- neem55

The Canucks could be in 5th or worse by the end of the week, especially as teams with games in hand catch up.

I use the end of January as my telling point.
- Marwood

That's over the 1/2 way mark?! I think at 30 games most of the big trends are set. It's really hard to bounce back from a bad start after that, as we saw with Edmonton last year.

Minivan should have that I had SJ, EDM, Cal in and LV, LA, ANA out. Prediction is looking good! Not my rookie ones though, except Tkachuk has looked unreal.

Well I've had an enjoyable morning defending Sutter and Beagle, pretty sure everyone's opinions have changed and are now pro Beagle/Sutter.

Who's next to be the whipping boy, I'll have to make up stuff to defend whoever it is also...

18 games, 22 points. Come on now, this is not close.

Are you saying both teams didn’t benefit from the trade?

In another two months I expect Montreal, New York Rangers, New York Islanders & Vancouver Canucks to all decline. Buffalo looks to have found a good mix after some excellent draft positions, I think they're about to take off like the Jets did.
- LeftCoaster

My spider sense is telling me the same but I am still going to root every game for a win.

That's true. All I'm trying to say is that by the end of the month of November these bottom teams haven't gotten their poop in a group, they aren't going to make it IMO the 25-30 game mark if you're a bottom feeder it's tough to make it in today's game.

Canucks could very well be a last place team by the 30 game mark. That’s a pretty quick turnaround from their current position...

I'm saying one team is benefiting more. Which IMO is very obvious given he not only has played more games, but at a much higher level ice time in terms of production, better advanced stats. Maybe you don't like Domi, that's fine. Numbers don't lie.

In a way playing well has put us in a position to sell high on some guys that we couldn't normally get a bag of pucks for. I hope LE scores 10-20 goals, then he might actually be tradable, for example. Hutton has value?! Do we keep him and hope he can do this, sell him or Guddy? Both? It's an interesting spot, I really hope they don't buy

Guddy! Sell Guddy.

Ya if they lose 10 straight. Any idea the likelihood losing 10 straight games? Not very high. There's reason you can look back on every season the last 5 years and see where teams were after 30 games and see 70% of the playoff teams year after year. I really wanted another top5 pick, but you have to deal what's going on in reality and Green has these guys playing really well. I still don't think they make the playoffs, in fact my original comment had nothing to do with the Canucks but Im guessing you didn't go that far back.

By then 75% of who's in is pretty much locked and they are just jockeying for home advantage.

I never said anything about Domi. In fact, if you could read, you would have noticed that I was basically agreeing with you, and noting that Arizona also benefited from the trade as Domis performance in the desert left something to be desired.

I have a confession: I've really liked him. What a turnaround from last year for these two guys. I think everyone knows I don't like him, like Hutton even less but I've come around on EG a bit. When he went after Clutterbuck last night

I know I'm going to catch poop for this fire away!

You said both teams are benefiting, which implies that MTL isn't the clear winner of the trade. But they are. Domi is going to the All-Star game and Chukky is going to Arby's.
