I have a confession: I've really liked him. What a turnaround from last year for these two guys. I think everyone knows I don't like him, like Hutton even less but I've come around on EG a bit. When he went after Clutterbuck last night

Sometimes.
The Canucks have been a playoff team in January in the past and you know how that ended. - Marwood
If you're in a wildcard spot at the halfway mark, it doesn't mean much. I agree. I like the mettle of the team this year though. Bo needs the letter on his sweater changed, other than that I have no complaints. I don't think we make the playoffs, I'm just not so sure I see a top pick anymore.

Zero chance we don’t fall off. Winning has been fun but this team sucks! |

Ya if they lose 10 straight. Any idea the likelihood losing 10 straight games? Not very high. There's reason you can look back on every season the last 5 years and see where teams were after 30 games and see 70% of the playoff teams year after year. I really wanted another top5 pick, but you have to deal what's going on in reality and Green has these guys playing really well. I still don't think they make the playoffs, in fact my original comment had nothing to do with the Canucks but Im guessing you didn't go that far back. - neem55
You win, LA probably can’t catch the Canucks by the 30 game mark.
But Vegas is 7 points back with 2 games in hand. Canucks just need to go 3-7 in their next 10 and the standings will change drastically. Your point was that we don’t need to wait any longer, if the Canucks play .500 hockey they’ll make the playoffs? |

You said both teams are benefiting, which implies that MTL isn't the clear winner of the trade. But they are. Domi is going to the All-Star game and Chukky is going to Arby's. - neem55

No. More what I meant is that basement teams won't make the playoffs, it's just too hard to crawl up and hope other teams lose. I don't think the Canucks are a playoff team, I've been arguably the biggest proponent for top5 picks on this board. Now we have one, he's leading the team (told ya (frank)ers!!!) and this looks like a bubble team IMHO (outside looking in). If Quinn Hughes is as good as we all hope, I think we got a shot at a wildcard next year for sure. |

Vegas looks ok. All I'm saying is if they don't get their poop in a group by that 30 game mark and at least be close to a wildcard spot they are done. I honestly don't think Vegas has it this year, they've lost their mojo. |

He’s still not a top 4 guy but he’s finally playing like a solid bottom pairing dman - Nucker101
I don't know if I think either of them are, but they are playing a hell of a lot better in that spot. GA have gone up, that's no coincidence. But I was expecting much worse. |

I’ve liked Hutton most of the season, but he started off decently last year too so I’m not ready to call this a bounce back season for him yet either |

We can only hope Hutton has turned the corner and will continue to trend in the right direction. Hughes and OJ next year to compliment. But with the injury status of this club, chances are your boy Pool-a-lot will be in the top 6 here for the foreseeable future lol |

Auldy on the Canucks: The Canucks have more depth this year in Greens second season which has helped a ton with the injuries. But, two road trips across the country in one month? I have never seen this before. I give this team a B+ thus far.
Here is another excuse but don't let the facts get in the way of a good hate tirade - VANTEL
Hard to believe people would go as far as to dismiss this scheduled and rash of injuries to cling onto their narrative. This team is improving. Canucks did amazing through all of that.

Why is being realistic based on last seasons performance (with same defense & goaltending tandem back) and this seasons rosterfull of rookies and NHL/AHL tweeners, being a hater?
You must be the veteran mentor for the emotionally fragile millennials in here. At least you post after a loss. - Marwood
This post is an example in itself. The Canucks full of injuries actually stepped up the play down the stretch last season... and then start the season strong in spite of the injuries again just to have people say this season is the same as last season? A quarter of the season in....
There is a trend you are overlooking. This team is getting tired but the trend is right there in front of your face. Our young players are improving... previous whipping boys are picking it up. The coach is improving. The Canucks are improving.

Alrighty then,
The Canucks have 69 GA...worst in the league, now if you look at Pouliot who is averaging 20 minutes a game and has a +2 rating, that is pretty impressive. He does make brain fart errors most games but when compared with Tanev who is playing two extra minutes over Pouliot and is a -8.
Goldobin will be much harder to defend, as he is the most prominent member of the G string group. Playing with Pettersson and either Eriksson or Virtanen he is integral, like the thin string that holds the waist band to the crotch cover. Visually he can be hard to look at in some instances, but when used in the manner in which was meant, well, it can be visually quite nice to fantasize over. |
