Playing with Crosby vs playing with Gaudette...
- 1970vintage

Why couldnt he play with Horvat or Pettersson. Loui is the only top 6 winger right now to break 40 points in a season.

Because it wouldn’t fit my narrative.

Pearson has 1 point on the year. He's 26 with his best year being a 44 point season 2 years ago riding shotgun with Jeff Carter and shooting 13%. He's also making a decently fat ticket for a guy whose only ever been "the third guy" on his line.

The only thing the Canucks have to trade is prospects or draft picks and Pearson is worth an investment of 0 of those. If this team was 2 years further along and actually had some surplus assets, maybe you can throw some C level prospect their way.

Probably the point. They suck already and are capped out, he'll add some speed to a slow lineup and maybe show well enough to get a decent rental return at the deadline.

I don't think so. I think that this is a rebuild move aimed at the TDL for LA. Gaunce ain't returning poop. Dude could go on waivers and no one would care around the league. If Hagelin went on waivers teams would line up for him with his track record, offensive history and UFA contract.

Ah. Didn’t Boeser do the hitting in that instance but took the worst of it?

He did...probably sick of all of the lack of retribution chatter

Why not trade him for draft picks instead considering some are saying they may or may not start a rebuild? Why ship off a slumping, yet consistent 26 year old scorer in pearson for an older (30) hagelin. Its not a good trade for the kings no matter how you spin it imo. Pearson for a rental like hagelin is a bad move. Hes literally a rental this trade deadline.

Yup, teams would be lining up for a 30 year old pending UFA making $4 with a single goal on the season... seems like good value there.

This road trip and injuries seem to have brought the Canucks back to earth a bit, they look tired and slower I think they will empty the tanks against Minny. I really like what I am seeing from Virtanen lately he's shooting the puck and he has a great shot. I think if they continue to give him the offensive opportunities he is getting he could be starting to grow into the player I saw here in Calgary for the Hitmen. He's not a true power forward but a big strong scoring winger who can chip in with a few hits a game. He's quick and can make d-men look over their shoulders a bit, I have seen some flashes of chemistry with Petterson but he seems genuinely surprised to get the puck at times, I hope they keep him

Teams will be lining up to over pay at the trade deadline. Kong’s will likely get a 1st plus a quality prospect for him. And they will save $3.75 for the following 2 years! They made out like bandits

Old hockey dudes love bad players with a decent track record. Scores those players contracts all the time.

Maybe a mid-round pick, according to this.

Bob Stauffer: “Kings obviously wanted to get out of the last two years (19-20, 20-21) of Pearson’s deal (3.75M). He has just 0-1-1, -9, 17 GP, but twice has hit 40 points. IMO LA will be able to flip Hagelin as a rental at the deadline for a mid-round pick.”

i feel like people say this about every player Pittsburgh brings in, but if that were the case then they wouldn't need to keep bringing these types of moves for the last decade.
