I thought they actually contained them fairly well... considering

The goaltending let them down once again

didn't see the game but stats indicate this was a complete mismatch. and considering Edmonton is terrible, that's not a good sign.

I only watched the first. They were outworked for the first time. Edmonton had lost four in a row, and worked harder.

They didn't play a horrible road game, they were still in it until the 4th goal, 5 minutes into the 3rd... a real smelly goal by Niemi... Those goals can be deflating, especially to a young team... and as far as the shot total goes, I think that was more Edmonton realizing how generous Niemi was being and they fired everything at him, from anywhere... Habs were not dominated the way the score sheet would suggest, not even close!

Poor guy. Second game in, and you have to stop Connor McDavid

they got booed out of their building vs. Colorado. It was bound to happen. Chiarelli gets to live another day.

The first goal was a lucky bounce, if he wasn't floating around like a baby seal, Niemi could of been in position to prevent the goal... the 3rd, 4th and 5th goals were all saves a goalie needs to make! Habs tried to fight back and stay in the game and did that for 2 periods but the bad goal flood gates opened up early in the 3rd

Niemi is not the anwser to anything. They will live or die with Price (unless they pull a trade, but I don't really believe in that).

given how the goalies are playing in both Montreal and Laval yes i do believe that Bergevin will eventually have to move to acquire a goalie.

I just don't see how he could make that happen, unless Price gets injured

Niemi let in some softies but still made some pretty impressive saves. Especially on Draisaitl...

The defense looked real bad.

Would the Flyers be dumb enough to trade Carter Hart?

You expect your goalie to make a few saves that maybe he shouldn't from time to time, allowing 4 goals he should have had in 1 game is unacceptable and the D isn't to blame... Schlemko got burnt by McDavid on a few occasions, but that's to be expected I suppose, other than that, it's all on Niemi

i think it'd be more along the lines of a pending UFA

i think that's been less the issue than giving up goals that most beer-league goalies would stop.

Probably not... and Montreal has a couple G prospects of their own, isn't Hart in the A right now?

So Price and Benn for Bob and bread man? Give them back their 2nd rounder from Vegas too, that should sway them!

I think it's more a D issue, TBH. And I also think they miss Byron and his forechecking tenacity.

Weber should help the D. They also could use a top LH defenseman to play with him, once he is back. That won't come free. But like you said, the goalies have to be better. Mostly Price since he is the clear number one on that team.
