Weal looking comfortable out there too. Making things happen and creating.

- Giroux_Is_God

Weal hasn't been creating or making anything happen. He is a perimeter player who doesn't get the puck to his teammates, to the net, or get himself to the net. He's easily knocked off the puck. 3C is a big hole for this team currently. It's puzzling that you see this from Weal.

Hooray!

I'm liking what we see out of NAK, kid is tenacious out there and tbh wins most of the board battles he gets into. Much like Lindblom. Hope he see's a few more minutes of ice.

Weal looking comfortable out there too. Making things happen and creating.

The team has been playing inconsistently in the NZ. Strength is transition offense on this team. A lot of their goals are off line rushes. Forcing those turnovers in the NZ is the key to this team.

First 10 minutes last night were well played, but then they started sitting back. Folin didn't even CONSIDER stepping up on Dadonov until almost our faceooff dot. Unleashed in the 3rd- ravenous on the puck... and lo and behold....

The PK? We can see goals coming 3 steps in advance. That's how slow and passive it is. Laughton still having a good PK year. Seems like every other game he'd in the middle of a little something offensively while shorthanded.

Sanheim and Gudas are our best pair and need to play more.

- Giroux_Is_God

Yeah, but as much as I like the way Gudas is playing, I hope they move him mid season. They aren't winning a Cup this year with him or without him, and his value will probably never be higher. They need to see what they have in Myers at some point this year, and when Folin invariably regresses to his usual self, they need to get a healthy AMac back into the lineup.

What I'm hoping to see down the stretch at ES is:

Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-Hagg
AMac-Myers

late in games when trailing, shorten it to:
Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-Myers

late in games when leading, shorten it to:
Provy-Hagg or Ghost if O zone start
Sanheim-AMac

Hopefully by next year, AMac is the 7th man and it looks like:
Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-Hagg
Morin-Myers

edit: while Sanheim and Gudas are looking good, a lot of that has to do with matchups. The Provy/Hagg pair and to a lesser extent Ghost/Folin are getting the tougher matchups.

With 3C being a hole would you invest in getting someone like Anisimov or maybe a guy like Cody Eakin?

I really don't see Anisimov costing a ton. He's a big center who I also think kills penalties. Big body. I know he has 2 more years at a little over 4mil but if Frost is ready next year I think Anisimov can slide to LW.

Dadanov was coming in with speed. If Folin had stepped up, Dadonov would've gone right by him. Folin's mistake was with his stick positioning. He moved his stick to give a shooting opportunity. Should've been a routine stick block.

It is Folin, there is no "routine" play for him

Yeah. I don't know why he slid his stick to the outside unless he thought Dadnov might try to go that way. He was flying so i can't say Folin should have tried to step up. But the stick placement hurt. Also while a nice shot a save you hope your goalie can make too. Not blaming Elliott but saving it's one of those saves you could use.

He's actually played pretty well for a guy who was supposed to be the 7th defenseman.

Both really good points that get overlooked.

I don’t think the pairings should change right now. Ghost and Provy are both still individually struggling to some degree.

If we want to be honest, right now Provorov is probably our most inconsistent defender. The puck looks like a hand grenade on his stick at times.

As nice as it's been that the team has been playing better of late, the PK is obviously still a major problem. They're spending 10+ minutes a game shorthanded on average and with a PK% of 70%, you're spotting a team a goal for every 7 PP minutes. That's simply unacceptable and the Flyers will remain an average team at best until they figure that out. Also, the PP has been abysmal lately, and I hate to say it, but in tight games like last night's, special teams may be the difference between winning and losing.

Not now no, but at some point around Jan/Feb, I'd like to see Gudas moved and Myers here.

Yes, I think the Phantoms have some games in Charlotte in late February. It will be fun to get to see Morin, Myers, Lyon, Hart or whichever prospects are playing then.

agreed, he is advertised and he brings a little something the D lacks. That said I am looking forward to the dayhe is the 7th D.

Do I think he should be playing over AMAC? Currently yes.

Agreed - after his rough start and subsequent popcorn diet he has really settled down and been pretty steady back there.

You need 2 right handed shooting D-Man.
Any news when Raffl is back?

Pretty much how I saw it. The Flyers did sag somewhat in the 2nd period, but it's not like they fell apart.

I'm really psyched about the play of Lindblom and Patrick. The young players in general but esp those two.

Patrick is always calling for the puck too, this kid wants it. His skating has looked phenomenal. I'd like to see Patty shoot more, too many pass happy guys on this team.

He's played better than MacDonald did earlier in the season but overall he's not a better player than MacDonald is.

One quip I have with Linblom is the speed. Very visible in the Florida game, probably due to their system as well, but he did not have the speed to push back the D in the neutral zone. Too many times he is throwing area passes for other guys because people were on him too quick or the D gapped up and he couldn't chip and chase.

You may be right, but at some point in a player's career don't they get to a point where the quality of their play goes down? Maybe Mac has hit this. Regardless, the coaching staff sees them on almost a daily basis and I doubt if AMac were a better player he'd be a healthy scratch.

Honestly, I just want the best team taking the ice. If AMac is better, I'd want him on the ice.
