Been on block for a while. Could thrive in Pitt on line with either Sid or Malkin. Quite curious the return to LA

Trading anything of value to Pittsburgh would make me vomit.
We could give them mumps, but Crosby already has them, how about Smallpox??

- MiloslavHorava

They already got Hags and Brass from us (inderectly), but what's the difference? Teams are on different ends of spectrum. Pitts window is closing and NYR is rebuilding. If Gorton can make a trade to help future, than so be it. By the time NYR is competing for the cup, the Pens will begin their own rebuild..

No offense, but I could thrive on a line with Sid or Geno!

While this league has a rich tradition to heavily overpay for UFA's (and be highly disappointed afterwards), i wouldn't make this deal (or only when you bundle rrentz joining the Pens fanbase!), especially as our 1st could be a lottery pick this year as well.

Nashville makes more sense. They have a history of giving away first rd picks and decent prospects. Also their lw depth could use some improvements.

This is a typical Rutherford deal. Low risk/high reward. Hagelin is a decent player, but he cant put the puck in the net or even contribute when your linemates are Kessel & Malkin.

I would never trade Sprong & a first for a pending UFA. If Rutherford wants to do that, trade those assets for a younger piece that you have control over for a number of years.

Rutherford fleeced Blake on this one. LA gets out of the next two years of Pearson’s salary and have to hope they can flip Hagelin at the trade deadline for something, but not a great deal. Watch Pearson take off next to either Sid or Malkin

I think Kings just happy to get rid of next two years of Pearson's contract and probably will peddle Hagelin off by the deadline unless they turn it around

What are you getting for Hagelin, a fourth rounder? He sold low on Pearson and got nod much back.

probably not much

Kings cap is just hellish, purely salary dumping here

But you moved a 26 year old forward who has shown he can score for a 30 year old one who can’t and will be a UFA

I think the big problem for LA is they absolutely had to do something. They paid good money for Kovy, have a very old core, and want to win another Cup so something had to give. Pearson was the easy fall guy. Getting Hagelin will inject some speed in their lineup and a good all around player. his problem is that he simply cant score, especially with two all stars on his line.

Pearson should benefit with a change of scenery. I dont know enough about him to know if he will slot with Malkin or Crosby, I'm guessing Malkin and Kessel.

Penguins still have big problems. Their defense sucks with Jack Johnson at the top of that list. The bottom 6 still cant score, a big problem for a team that won 2 cups with great 4 line depth.

Hags is a UFA after this season, so Kings get out of Pearson's salary for the next 2 years and open up $4mm at the end of the season if they can't flip Hags.

I'm not really much of a Tanner Pearson fan gotta be honest

he scored 4 goals in his last 40 games last year and none in 17 this year, Kings may have saw a way out

Losing Hags and gaining Pearson doesn't make the Pens any faster, and in the Metro that's not good

This is exactly what trade was about. Nothing more.
