Pearson has 1 point in 17 games. They should be happy someone even wanted him - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Sadly one less point then Hagelin, at least Pearson has some scoring upside. |

Such a stupid trade for the Kings. Worse team in scoring so they get someone who isn't a goal scorer and has 1 this year for Pearson whom is in a good contract and has a lot of potential. Why not get picks? I doubt they re-sign this guy at the end of the season so basically gave Pearson away for free.
At least this just helps the Kings tank more so maybe they can get the #1 overall pick. |

I don't think I understand this trade from either side.
Pens got younger, but a player who is struggling and on the CAP for two more years.
LA got older, & I guess CAP relief next couple of years??? - rocheccw
You're kidding right? The Kings have trouble scoring every year. Even when the Kings won the Cup look at Richards pts from Philly to LA. Pearson will do a lot better in a system that is geared for offense and not strictly dump n chase d mode style. I will bet you if he plays with Malkin he will have a lot more goals and assists than Hagelin did these 16 games. Hagelin will produce what he is now. So yeah, the Pens got the very sweet part of the deal. |

One down, 3 more schleps to ship out *Pearson* now it's time to get rid of Forbort Muzzin and Martinez - MikeOxbyg
They need to dump Carter, Brown and Quick too. Kopitar and his contract needs to go but doubt anyone will take it. It is time to move on and rebuild and the core needs to go because the true core that got the cups are long gone. ie: Williams, Mitchell, Scuderi, Richards, RR, Stoll. They might not have put up points but they were the actual heart.

this from the la times when he took the reigns:
'Blake cited Anze Kopitar, Tyler Toffoli, Jeff Carter, Jonathan Quick, Drew Doughty, Jake Muzzin and Tanner Pearson as core members.' |

Who would take these deals? Carter is remotely appealing because he has a front loaded contract and a cap floor team might consider him. But these three are old, injury prone, expensive, past-their-prime guys signed for several more years.
Embrace the tank, Blake. |

Would only help if Nylander's contract didn't kick in until next season. Kings have like 41 cents in cap space this season. |

Bad trade. Poor asset management. Hagelin is a fine player. But this is just poor management. |

The 6.25% salary makes Hagelin's salary equivalent to Pearson's salary until it comes off the books in July ($3.75m). This trade does nothing for the Kings except clear up cap space for the next 2 seasons. Pearson wasn't contributing anything to the roster right now, and they had to clear up $2.5M to make Doughty's raise fit next year, so they got a kinda/sorta Pearson equivalent to finish out the year, and cleared out room for Doughty's new cap hit. |

It's still poor asset management none the less. It was said they kept Forbort over McNabb because it would look bad just letting another 1st rounder go. Well here we go again. |

oh, of course.....well, now that I think about it, ya...definitely worth a 26 year old 1st rounder who averages 40 points a year. |
