For sure. I just heard Panarin has gone off the record saying that wants to play in California. We'll see what happens at the trade deadline if LA stays in this slump. They could just be flipping Hags at the deadline for a pick. Between him and Thompson coming off the books next year, that's 5 million, right there. Muzzin is another 4 million that might come off the books at the deadline to...but this is all based on the same rumors we all hear every other day

Doughty's extension kicks in next season, so $4M gone immediately. I've already done all the math, in order to fit in a $8.5-9M contract for Panarin, they need to clear an additional $8M or so in contracts. Anyone who gets moved has to be replaced, so you can't just say $4M from Muzzin is now available, and unless you want a bunch of ELCs or fringe-NHLers in the lineup, their replacements are going to eat a significant chunk of the amount being removed.
If the Kings want Panarin, they're going to have to move Toffoli, Martinez, Lewis, and Clifford and replace them all with six-figure alternatives.
