Yes. Expecting health from hockey's equivalent of an 80 year old is a solid plan. What could possibly go wrong... - systemtool
Are you saying Luongo is 80 years old or that Reimer plays like an 80 year old? |

Liljegren and Sandin have been really good.
probably a few years away from being an impact but having those guys on 900k salaries for three years will be huge.

Would be a good pairing for us in the future. All we need is a right handed d-man to play with Rielly. Hainsey is craptacular. |

At this point in the season, William Nylander has the same amount of 5v5 primary assists as Laine does. That's why we need to sign Willy Ny the holdout guy.

Seems to only play well when the Jets are on the PP |

In theory, Dermott replaces him. It won't be quick and may not happen at all but that's the guy who they'd hope can replace him. Liljegren will be lucky if he's even in the NHL full time, much less playing Gardiner's minutes.
That being said, the cap will probably go up at least another 2 million (that's approximately the average) and they'll be able to re-sign Gardiner as long as he doesn't want more than 6 AAV. - Unholy_Goalie

80% of his points have come via the PP. Who knows maybe Laine needs better linemates than Wheeler and Scheifele |

To be honest, I thought that it was you that said if the Leafs get Tavares, it won't be enough to cover the points we'd be losing by letting jvr and Bozak walk. - PatC80
Incorrect. I said he could replace JVR on the PP, replace Bozak in the face-off dot and even improve his wingers like Marner but the overall team goal total may not be that much different and their position in the standings wasn't guaranteed to improve but rather may stay the same because of their defense. Through 18 games, the Leafs have 5 fewer goals than they did last year thus far, just as a note.
The discussion was about comparing the Leafs to Tampa Bay as contenders and how the Leafs defense was still weak and still a question mark given all the young, unproven and/or struggling players they have on the blueline. Really, only Rielly has shown improvement, the rest have been either the same or worse. I even said that adding Tavares may help them beat Boston but Tampa Bay was still the true #1 team in the division. |

I was talking about this year / next year, when Gardiner may not return. Long term, he could be a top-4 D but that could take a couple years to get there as we are seeing with Dermott. |

Just give the ice time to Rielly and trade Doughty, Karlsson and Ekblad for William Nylander |

he just looks his age really, that's all. right now he has an elite shot, great vision, and a great ability to get open. not a lot else going on with his game yet but he has plenty of time to figure it out. once he starts to consistently use his size to protect the puck he's going to be filthy. he'll never be a speedster. |

Getting open on a PP is not all that impressive. Laine has what 7 pp goals and one empty net goal? |

Move him to RW, to replace Nylander. Good thinking. š |
