He's a huge dork. That's what the issue is. Just a massive dork.
- BINGO!

Dorks? We ain't got no dorks! We don't need no dorks! I don't have to show you any stinking dorks!

I dunno.

Why has Hamilton, a top pairing RHD who skates like a deer, been dealt twice already in his young career? There's something pretty rotting-fishy about Dougie methinks...

- mjones242

He's been dealt three times if you count the Kessel trade!

If Slavin and Pesce won't be moved, I'm ok with Hamilton. I don't know what's happened in the past, but whatever it was, Babs will beat it out of him soon enough
- PatC80

apparently hamilton is just a different guy.
likes reading books, going to theater etc.
not a 'go out and have some beers with the guys' type of person.
difficult for some teams and teammates to understand that.

Did you read Civian's article about Slavin where she went back and spoke with him, his former coaches and people in his life about who he is as a person and not just the hockey player aspect of it?
- BINGO!

Yes?

He is religious and is loyal?

This does not tell us his took a discount...not even close.

I think when you are on a team you still have to attend team dinners and stuff like that. I don't know if that has happened regularly when he was on the Flames but it was proven to of happened once when he went to the museum instead.

Just like any work place...you don't have to be friends but when there is work parties and events you at least make an appearance.

It's why he's a better fit in Raleigh than in Boston or Calgary. Personality wise, at least.

He's mostly an anonymous, and there's not a lot of that typical hockey culture stuff to speak of.

I don't know man.

If you're a great teamate, fun guy to be around at work and work hard all the time but you don't go for a beer because you'd rather go home to your family or do whatever you want.... there's nothing wrong with that in my boook.

I'd go to the museum with Dougie. Mostly to make fun of his stupid name. Like how my uncle's name is "Howie" and not "Howard."

There's a difference between team dinners and a bunch of guys going out for dinner after a practice while on the road.

If you have a subscription to the Athletic, read the article about Robin Lehner going on the road now that he's staying sober. It does a pretty good job of describing how most of these things are cultural, not mandatory, and there's a pressure to be a part of it.

Friends of mine named their puppy "Hiccup." It's fine for a puppy, but in 3 years this is going to sound (frank)ing dumb. Like naming your daughter "Tinker Bell" or some poop.

Yeah, think there's a pretty big difference between participating in a team event and just hanging out with the guys after practice or whatever.

It sucks but its the way it is...There is absolutely a pressure to be a part of it and if you are not then your character is questioned.

Just like the trades...if you can't handle being ripped a part everyday by your co workers and employers then you won't make it in the business. It sucks but in certain professions your personality will either bring you down or push your forward. And that wont be changed any time soon.

Team dinners arent every day...........just like a work party. They are rare and anyone can take a few hours every now and then to show you care. It is not hard to do at all.
