Lakeshore.... pinehurst up to athol springs, locksley park was my favorite spot. The breeze that comes off Lake Erie in the summer is fantastic. |

I did the same about 2 yearsccago in July.
No doubt about it, it gets hot...not like TX though...but humidity is high here too.
Butvthat iz 3 months...so rather than locked up inside Dec -April up there, it is mid-June through Sept here.
...here's the difference...we still head out to pool, or beaches, on boat and have fun in the sun...jysg need water to cool off..and your favorite liquid beverage.
I wouldnt trade it for the world. - IonSabres
humidity definitely overrated
went from tarpon springs to lakewood ranch to cape coral then back up to sarasota
if im moving somewhere cross country i think i still would like to go somewhere with mountains because i love to hike, but florida was great. |

Can confirm: Having lived in both
South Towns > North Towns
I'm sorry, you northtowners are square, and you really don't know how to party, either.
Also, yes, East Aurora is the best Suburb. |

You like muskie you should go up to the French River. It's a little southeast of Sudbury, monster muskie and pike, and if you go out on Lake Nipissing huge sturgeon. They have weird slot limits though that's drawn a lot of grumbling. Licenses are cheap for temporary ones and you can get them pretty much anywhere. We used to stay near a place called Lunge Lodge. It is dangerously close to Quebec though, I get an odd craving for frog's legs when there, but disappears as soon as we get to Parry Sound. |

I have friends that have gone many times, their reports weren’t that great. We thought about it a while back but the st Lawrence was so much closer and the fishing is insanely good. I prefer the clear water as well, makes for some awesome visual action. I have fished Georgian Bay though, never again, that place is an abyss. |

French River is not very clear. Not super occluded either though, kind of in between, but enough so that if you like clear you probably wouldn't like it. The scenery is worth the price of admission on its own. I have a couple of pics I took with a cheap point and shoot that look like picturesque postcards, it's not possible to take a picture of something off-putting. There's no garbage anywhere. And it's not one of those places everyone knows about, so there aren't wannabe pros zooming around. The woods/water vacation bit is amazing enough, and then add in monster fish for hardcore anglers. My friend's dad and mom both caught a 48" and a 46"(respectively) muskies up there. |

I've been down in Orlando for 4 and a half years.
I would move back tomorrow. But it's not the weather, it's the people, and the food...and the beer...that I miss the most. - Stripes77
I totally agree with this. The people back home are a ton better than the A$$hats that live here in Orlando. I'd never miss this place if I left. If our jobs weren't so good, we would be gone.

Not a fan of Orlando.
Reminds me of big ass shopping malls connected by Interstate Highways.
Food in Florida leaves alot to be desired for sure. One has to search high and low for good places....way too many chains, hardly any family run places.
For sure that is something I do miss quite a bit. |

Exactly.
Things can be very expensive here. Try going to the Rat. Just a one day pass is super $$$. Universal is somewhat expensive as well.
Food, I agree. Pretty much all large chains. When I get home, Bar Bill, Mighty Taco.... and more that i look forward eating at. |

I like me a Mighty, but when I go home I crave good food at locally run restaurants... a good Italian dinner. |

Well that was a fun drive home. Jesus Christ ! Snow, sleet, rain, slush ... gross. Why do I live here again ? Hey guys who moved to warmer climates ... what's it like after living here for so many years - is it awesome ? I've REALLY been thinking of moving out of this crap. I don't ever want to see snow again. - kritter65
I just moved back from Georgia this week.
The winters were awesome. 50-60 degrees. That lasted from November - February. Golfing weather for me and very few people out because it was too cold.
Then a switch turned on and its 90+ degrees everyday with 95% humidity.
I used to laugh at the "Too hot to go outside people" No that really is a thing. There were days where you would walk out to cut the grass and just walk back inside.
The heat and humidity got old.

Moving south is a bit of a conundrum for me. I hate being in a/c all the time but as I get older I get tired of dealing with winter. The maintenance of winter gets tiring. - Frizzlefry
it's not all the time, you can do stuff outside
you just have to do it at 7 am or 7pm
nights on the water still trumps anything Lockport has to offer |
