Risto was luckily drafted low enough that we dont have to over analyse his play. If he was 2nd overall hed be a scapegoat for sure.
- hubie

At #2 overall, you should be a difference maker.

except now the eye test has caught up with those stats. And I think part of the issue was that we had so little talent on the blue line, we didn't know what top pair was supposed to really look like. We do now.
- Sabresfan-365

I get stuck on the return. No idea what other teams think about him. I would want a really nice return, otherwise why trade him? Hopefully Dahlin is awesome and a #1d man, but if and when that happens, if he gets hurt, I think Risto can fill into that position for stretches. I'm sure that last point will be contested, but the dude did play 28 minutes against TB

im less concerned about the return now because he represents a major inefficiency on the blue line.

Scandella, Bogosian, Risto...that's close to 15 million on guys who need reduced roles/sheltered minutes and PP time just to not be anchors on defence.

He's an enigma in a lot of ways.

Pretty much any analyst over the last few years has said that the advanced stats make him look horrible, but the eye test says otherwise and they all don't get it.

- HonkFortheGoose

If it takes trading him to prevent the coaches from playing him 25+ minutes a night I hope Botterill does

He just brings so many different elements to a team. I still enjoy watching him play. It's not as simple for me as a salary clearing exercise the way it is with Bogo and Scandella. I would want something really nice

Dahlin being Dahlin will kind of make this problem go away eventually.

But I’d still like to not have 3 of them in the lineup

I would imagine that him combined with really anything else should fetch a nice return in the goal scoring department anyways

What kind of person moves to Lockport "on a whim" then stays there for years only to have a mental breakdown about his life decisions on hockeybuzz? Maybe move?

Rent must be free or something. Do you get internet access free as well? I can just imagine you sitting at a library computer terminal feverously typing away this manifesto.

- Angler

I go to the library pretty frequently, the people on the computers are seriously moving in slow motion, it's like a time warp. No one does anything feverishly. Maybe LP is different.

I'd pick East Amherst over East Aurora in probably every category available.
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

I need land and a house that isn't on top of my neighbors. I'd choose East Aurora because of that. I want to leave my house on a snowmobile, ATV or Side by Side on a trail system when I want to.

Well that was a fun drive home. Jesus Christ ! Snow, sleet, rain, slush ... gross. Why do I live here again ? Hey guys who moved to warmer climates ... what's it like after living here for so many years - is it awesome ? I've REALLY been thinking of moving out of this crap. I don't ever want to see snow again.

Agreed but most of those things have become far less important in today's nhl.

10 years ago Quinn Hughes may have gone undrafted, a couple months ago he goes top 10.

We're in a world where 5'9 d-men can not only survive but thrive, because the game has been changed to where there's more importance placed on puck possession, speed and skill and the stuff that once held them back is no longer of much use.

a decade ago ristolainen having 10 hits or whatever the other night would have been cause for celebration. Now all i get from that is how it means the sabres didn't have the puck.

This is my first winter in Austin.

Some frost in the morning, 65 and sunny today and 70 and sunny tomorrow.

August was a little rough with over 30 straight 100 degree days but you just go from AC to AC and its all good. They even have AC on the outdoor patios at bars and restaurants here.

watch out for the jelly fish

they sting like a mother f@cker

- homiedclown

I was stung by one as a kid in Florida
That did hurt

I’m not at the beach though
My buddy is marrying a girl from Mexico & the wedding is in her tiny little bordertown about 2hrs inland from the gulf

Gonna be a legit Mexican fiesta
I’m pretty psyched

As for those b!tching about East Aurora,
you guys are bonkers
There tons of great places to eat & drink
And houses in places like East Amherst are also expensive, and ppl are also snobby
And who cares about HS sports?
I grew up in OP, and we were great at just about everything, but i don’t give a f*ck now

Yeah that is not the LP I am talking about though. The "country" part is beautiful. Starpoint is the best public school in WNY.

My grandparents are in the newer development on Shawnee, technically it is NT, but Starpoint schools. Just because Wheatfield does not have a post office.

- CoHo_to_B-Lo

When I delivered pizza I (frank)ing hated that, we were in NT, and everyone who moved into 14120 from out of the area got a coupon for a free small pizza, and that's literally all they'd order, so I'd have to drive almost 15 minutes one way(a normal delivery was less than 5) halfway to NCCC for one or two dollars(if that, most people thought free meant they didn't have to tip too) once or twice a week.

black crown with the vanilla cream seltzer

I have a case of peach seltzer as well, for non crown moments

- homiedclown

I like my whiskey in 1oz portions for the most part
Not really a fan of mixing,
with the exception of Bourbon Lemonades in the summer

Trust me, that's not the issue. After having to drive from South Buffalo to Getzville for work every day, I'm a super aggressive driver. I had to sit through the light at Maple easily 3-4 times. It was AWFUL. Like I said, I just avoid it by going down Youngs or if I'm heading into Depew, I'll go down Harris Hill instead.

Traffic in the northtowns generally sucks
It’s at least undeniably worse than in the Southtowns

No way, we get less than half the snow than they do in the Southtowns. When they get feet we get inches, or none at all. Everywhere south of the 190-90 interchange can suck a Richard.

The best part of EA is the quality of education and the proximity to ski country. There's good food, but the "artistic" atmosphere is totally phony. I loved growing up there, and I was equally happy to leave. Maybe I'll return if I decide to have children, but probably not.

I used to live in Sloan, it's amazing how quickly you get used to screeching metal from the train yard down the street.

I've been down in Orlando for 4 and a half years.

I would move back tomorrow. But it's not the weather, it's the people, and the food...and the beer...that I miss the most.
