Sabres are getting the Dangerfield treatment in all the power rankings I've seen, the Canadiens who've basically been tied with the Sabres all year have been consistently ranked high than the Sabres despite the fact that the Sabres have won both head-to-head games thus far. And it's not like the Canadiens were good last year so they get the benefit of the doubt. NHL.com doesn't even have the Sabres in their "Super 16", but the Canadiens are 13th. And of the 3 writers(out of 13) that comprise the rankings, only 1, Adam Kimelman has the Sabres ahead of the Canadiens.

Edit: Power rankings are all about who's good now, and only 5 teams have more points than the Sabres. And I'll even throw in Boston who have the same with a game in hand to make it 6.

A-yup. My wife and I were in the best shape of our lives in Minneapolis because we exercised regularly and never ate out because there was no where good to go. All chain resturants. We would do Broders once or twice a year, that's about it.

I know I'm late on this and probably others have commented, but can Mike Milbury be any more of a (frank)ing douche bag????? Unless he's commentating on a game that involves one of his favorite teams he loves jerking off to, he never gives any credit to anyone else....FU NBC, always hated you and always will

He can try, but lets face it, h'e already in the douchebag hall of fame, right?
To be fair, every media broadcast has to have that Don Cherry knockoff type of guy, weather it's Milbury on NBC or Rivet on the instigators, it's the debate that the suits think the fans want to hear.
"Level headed" MacLean vs. "punch him in the face" Don Cherry.
It's worked for HNIC for decades.

Maybe. But my point is there appear to be other guys who shut them down for more time. Why aren't people tweeting about those other guys?
- Der Kaiser

Because everyone love to rail on them all the time, are they scoring a poop load of points? No. Are they getting completely caved-in in their own zone? No.
Honest question if you were told at the start of the season that the duo of 28 and 22 would play 10 mins against the lightnings best players and not give up a point, would you believe it?
Yes they are replaceable players, yes other players contributed to playing well defensively, but they are doing a solid job of being a fourth line to not get completely destroyed by better competition.
I cannot understand the flak these two get at all, even when they do something good, people find things to pick apart.

The past 5+ years are going to make people think that the Sabres' play is unsustainable until they do it until the new year at least.

When i was stationed in Cali i brought some things back with me after leave. All the guys loved the websters and loganberry. Also when Pizza Junction was open they had the option to send anywhere in the country, pizza and wings came like "half cooked". But it wasn't the same. I believe you can get Duffs delivered any where in the country now as well.
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

Love the Duffs. So good. I usually stop in Niagara Falls when I’m on he way back from a game or shopping and throwing my old shoes in the parking lot.

So, not being from buffalo, what’s the deal with Lockport? I never quite follow the conversations when you guys talk about south towns or Clarence etc. mind explaining someone?

"If Kucherov's shot went in, they still played a good game."

If his shot goes in, that's 2 games this year they blew in the last minute. That's supposedly the role in which they shine.

These guys went from incompetent to barely competent. That's it

- jcragcrumple

On both of his shots late in the game, I felt if they were the same height but in line with going in, that Hutton was there to glove it. If you say his shot could have been (not saying you are) was higher or lower and in line to go in the net, that I could say that about any shot that did not go in.

Hutton was on fire last night and he was the reason we won (1st star as it would be).

The if game is dangerous. What if Skinner scores early in the 1st, then we would have been up 3-1 late. What if the TB goal was offside (thought it might be worth challenge except you get 2 min penalty if wrong), then it would have been 2-0 late. The if game is weak to discuss, cause almost anything could have happened.

I don’t know anything about the restaurants but I can tell you the hospital in Lockport is second rate.

It’s pretty driving into Town from the east though - big old houses near a damn nice looking golf course.

Incidentally, I bought three jars of Weber’s horseradish mustard (hope that’s the right one) when I was at the Chicago-bills game last week. Haven’t tried it yet.

My humble opinion, I like Girgs and Larsson. I know I’m going to get buried, but......

First of all, your 4th line is there to rest the top 3 lines while not giving up anything defensively. Any points they get are a bonus. They play the PK and block shots, neither of which you want your top lines doing. I’m not going as far to say their role is to shut down other teams top lines or play critical minutes in close games, but if your 4th line is playing well enough to earn those minutes, huge plus. I don’t want any of the future top 9 players getting experience on the 4th line. I’d rather see them in Rochester or the press box.

Girgs is an above average skater that plays a physical game. He came out of the chute with a high offensive upside (watch highlights of his first full year) but has since settled into his bottom six, d first role. Larsson is not fast but quick and great on his edges. Turns on a dime, plays physical with a low center of gravity, and therefore is a nightmare to play against when he is forechecking / backchecking against you.

Just saying. Go Sabres.

This is the best explanation I have read of their value: they give more important players a chance to rest without hurting the team in that interval.

I can live with that, but can we do better?

Hutton was the entire reason we won. He was phenomenal. And that's not a bad thing, because even when we were decent, Miller would steal us a game. It's nice to have that feeling again.

The contributions of Girgs and Larsson are there - they did in fact play in the game, and they didn't make a negative impact - my opinion is that we should expect more than "they didn't (frank) up" if we're going to say they had a good game.

I don't hear anyone saying Risto had a good game, or contributed in a big way to the win. 28 minutes, 0 +/-, 9 hits. And I'm not bringing this up as a comment that Risto should be getting more love. For some reason, most of the articles written about the game focus on the fact that 22 + 28 played against the top line for 10 shifts and didn't look terrible.

These players have all been around for a long time. It's time to raise the expectations on them. Being "not bad" isn't good enough anymore

One of them is a guy paid to play against top lines, the other two you, along with others want to fire into the sun.

I think people are surprise how well defensively 22, and 28 have been. And they have been good in that end

If you are talking about raising expectations, then we shouldn’t be complimenting Ristolainen for getting caved in his own end for the 4th year in a row.

I think people are just surprised 22, and 28 are actually not hurting this team
