This is the best explanation I have read of their value: they give more important players a chance to rest without hurting the team in that interval.

I can live with that, but can we do better?

- Der Kaiser

Not sure you can. It’s a knife edge. If 4th line players start producing points, they become top 9 talent, then they are expected to produce consistently. And if top 9 talent focuses on D and stop producing, they become filthy douchbags that need to be cut/traded/assassinated immediately.

All of this is also related to draft position and current salary.

Go Sabres.

There's the point.

Kudos to them for being not terrible

Right, and it’s a tad surprising. Especially for Larsson.

I never wanted to see him on this team again. But he’s playing a role and it’s working

Opinions vary.

I am excited for Wilson to come back. People who are impressed with Larsson will be blown away by Wilson

What is the timetable for Wilson's return? I haven't heard anything about him since the season started

Ya, they said 8-10 weeks, probably followed by a rehab assignment.

The Blues pick is top 10 protected right?

We might luck out with that one

Yeah they look on a trajectory to the middle.

Looking at the standings, holy hell there aren’t too many really bad teams yet

Wonder if it would ever be an issue with Alex.

Obviously he has to do something in the NHL first but rumors are the father has a lot to do with Willy boy’s hold out

I have heard it’s a father problem too.

There’s no reason to keep the kid at this point trade him out.

I think if there was ever a case where a sign and trade could happen this is it. I would be surprised if Toronto doesn’t cut him loose sometime soon (relatively speaking, next two years but I would expect sooner). Most teams will need some cap going out to bring him in, usually the case against offer sheets.
I just hope Alex gets to the point where he is a legit nhler. Worry about that when it happens.

Alex? I wouldn’t think so yet. I’m actually surprised Nylander didn’t get signed after Matthews went down.

Also, it’s quite funny that Brendan Lemieux thought he should be a Sabre right away because 4 years later he can’t stick with the Jets full time
