LA sucks as bad or worse than the Hawks - EnzoD
Then Wild, Caps, & Bolts
Might do well against Panthers and Vegas
Then it’s the jets, press, and flames
Nine of those eighteen points would be doing well |

Don't take this as crappy tone, it's not meant that way at all ... what behavior/attitude issues? The thing he said about not dating black women? - I Am The Breadman
I believe what he/she may be alluding to is the comments Panarin made right after the 16' playoff series with the Blues while playing in the WC. Something along the lines as being tired in the Playoffs but excited to play for Mother Russia in the WC. |

That and his celebration when he got the goal to meet his bonus performance, then sleepwalked through the playoffs. Showed his true colors. |

Whew Breadman. Here we go. You know how some players are pass first and others are shoot first? Panarin is Panarin first. If he could wear a picture of himself on his jersey he would. You are seeing Panarin in action, in Columbus right now, where by all accounts he has been treated wonderfully and he could not care less. No loyalty, no pride, nothing.
In his brief time in Chicago he infuriated management, and for that matter many fans, including me, who were paying attention.
You have Russian players exemplified by Ovechkin, Malkin and Hawks’ Anisimov, who make it an important duty for themselves to learn to speak English and quickly. It’s part of playing in North America. Panarin simply couldn’t be bothered. No effort whatsoever. Didn’t attempt to learn English. Didn’t attempt to be part of the community. Only spent the minimum time he had to in Chicago. No training, no anything. He just did his own thing in Russia.
After the loss to the Blues in seven games they showed players like Kane and Toews and they were devastated - just like you would expect. Panarin couldn’t have cared less. In the handshake line when he came to his buddy Tarasenko they partied together on the ice, as
if Panarin was a Blue. I was furious. I just knew management would not like this either. Of course Panarin then couldn’t discard his Hawks’ sweater fast enough to go play and star for Russia in the World Championships.
The next year the Hawks were swept by the Preds. Panarin indicated to the press that he had felt tired. However, in Superman fashion he again quickly discarded his Hawks’ sweater - and his tiredness - again starring for Russia at the World Championships. I thought the tiredness comments came after the Preds’ Series but it could have been after the Blues’ Series.
There, of course, was the black women’ remarks mixed in.
By this point Hawks’ management had had quite enough. Panarin was signed for 6M, curiously exactly what Saad was signed for. Again curiously, Panarin was not given a NMC or NTC. Now Bowman even gave Tommy Hawk a NMC so this was very odd. I believe the trade was already in the works. Panarin was signed to be traded - and he was traded. Thankfully. I was not at all surprised. |

A little different, since no one ever questioned Kane's effort and heart on the ice.
I'm not sure I totally agree with Z3 about Panarin, but I can see how someone could come to that conclusion. |

Remember Panarin was never slated to be in the NHL. Malkin, Ovechkin AA et all had time to prepare for the transition and could learn English. Panarin was signed and came over inside a year. Over time I'm sure his english will improve. Because English is taught in Swedish schools the Swedes not only come here speaking better English than some North AMericans, some, like Nik Lidstrom spoke without a Swedish accent.
I think you're overdoing it with this Panarin thing. You have no idea if he couldn't get the Hawk sweater off fast enough as you claim. If the story about what he said about black women is true he's an bumhole otherwise who cares about thother stuff?
Panarin was a very good fun to watch player who didn't perform as well for Chicago in the playoffs, is the most factual summary about him |

Thank you, Z3, BGK, and powerenforcer. I still really like Panarin so I'm going to defend him. Sure Panarin is looking out for Panarin. Name a guy with a bloated contract that doesn't. Sure there are guys who are better team players, and show it. I hang the Preds series on everyone collectively, not just Panarin not showing up. The blues series, that was so evenly matched and in the first round. Really could have gone either way. The way Panarin acts towards learning English, (which I'm sure was better under his belt after year 1 with us, and probably better today) I have to treat his actions and comments as I would with a child. Panarin spent his whole life in Russia with his grandfather, sweet story, and he gets the chance of a lifetime to play on American ice with maybe the greatest American born player of all time. Learning a culture like ours is difficult and weird at times, it's a shock to those unfamiliar. Maybe he could be homesick, and he gravitates towards other Russian players and wants a strong Russian community around him. In regards to playing more hockey after being tired, sure, it's a crappy thing to say, but plenty of guys go and play more hockey because they want to. That energy and enthusiasm should have been redirected towards the SC playoffs, but in Nashville we were done for. The jersey thing you say, not getting it off fast enough, I can only let him speak for that. I do find it weird that after the contract, and the term that you point out, that he said he would consider coming back to Chicago. Kane has a strong pull. As far as management, if they were clearly pissed on tv, I never saw it, if they were pissed behind closed doors, then I can't speak for them because I don't know. The black women comment, yes it's a crappy thing to say, but again, doesn't know the culture on socially appropriate comments, some thoughts just stay in bubbles. Again, I treat that as a child who doesn't know better as he jumped into a new part of the world. |

Random question... How is baseball popular enough to pay the salaries they pay? Harper possibly getting a $400 million contract?! I understand the popularity of football and basketball, but baseball? |

Schmaltz does have a plus shot. Quick release on his snapshot. ......... Unless I missed it am surprised it hasn't been mentioned how his game might develop under JC and a new assistant. JC may just get the best out of the kid, hopefully at wing.
He's getting off 1.4 SOG per game, 1.5 last yr in his 52 point yr. His deployment is about the same with 63% OZ starts as it was last yr. Corsi is 51+, same as last yr. His shot % is down from 17% last yr to 7.7 and is the reason despite deployment and SPG he's on a 36 point pace as compared to his 52 last yr.
I'm in the camp it's way to early to give up on the kid admitting it's horrible to watch him pass up so many shots. - Mr Ricochet
This is been part of my main arguement with people wanting to trade him. He played under constant fear of making mistakes under Q and I feel that hurt his development. Under JC, it'll be interesting to see how he grows and if he can start playing more freely to create and make things happen. |

America's favorite pastime.
Plus, it's a sport without an actual salary cap. Just pay the fines for going over. Like the Yankees did for so many years. |

Agree with you and Savetheembers on this. Keith and Seabrook are going to retire as Blackhawks and help mentor the new wave of blueliners. Eventually they may become the 3rd pair, actually. An expensive 3rd pair at that.
Once Keith and Seabrook are retired or moved on in some other fashion:
Beaudin - Jokiharju
Carlsson - Boqvist
Hillman - Mitchell
Krys
Not likely to happen since this doesn't take in to account future drafts, trades, and free agent signings. But if all of these prospects hit their potential, that's a pretty good blueline. - AEL_Fox
Exactly what my thoughts are. I think you're gonna see at least 3 or 4 out of that seven who end up making an impact on the team. At least Joki and Boqvist. Then like you said take in account signings and trades that happen. With how loaded they are now after the past few drafts on the back end I don't think we'll see them make too many picks that way early on, but I definitely think that Stan's ultimate plan is to load up on as many impact defenders as he can and use that to his advantage to get an impact forward in a deal like New Jersey did with Larsson for Hall ( ) and Nashville did with Jones for Johansen (though that one you could say benefited Columbus more). Either way it shakes out, you're gonna see Keith and Seabrook stay on this team to mentor the players as their minutes get lower and lower until they decide to retire, ride their contract out, or some provision in the CBA allows for them to get the cap hit off the books. |

More games a season, bigger stadiums and the only non socialist sports league that has no salary cap. |

Wrong as usual Paul. He was the greatest, most exciting player to ever don a Hawk uniform in the regular season and that’s all that counts.
Who cares if he was pulling a Schmaltz during the Pred series and suddenly became allergic to the blue paint in the Preds crease...hell the red paint in the circles for that matter since he was pretty much never seen below them. |

I would say he's probably like three weeks away then for conditioning and building his strength back up. Remember it was a few weeks after Forsling started skating that he started playing in Rockford and that was only his wrist. Murphy is gonna have to get his back strength up for the beating he's gonna take night in and night out. I hope he doesn't lose his edge and is reluctant to engage once he's back for fear of hurting his back |

162 games per season, 81 at home.
If you average that at $32 per ticket across 28,830 people per game... that's an average of $76 million per year in ticket revenue.
Then MLB has 2 seperate tv deals.
Fox - $500 million per year
Turner - $300 million per year
Not to mention regional broadcasts and advertising revenue. Twice as much ad time across an MLB season than there is in an NHL or NBA year. |
