I would say he's probably like three weeks away then for conditioning and building his strength back up. Remember it was a few weeks after Forsling started skating that he started playing in Rockford and that was only his wrist. Murphy is gonna have to get his back strength up for the beating he's gonna take night in and night out. I hope he doesn't lose his edge and is reluctant to engage once he's back for fear of hurting his back - Savetheembers33

Wrong as usual Paul. He was the greatest, most exciting player to ever don a Hawk uniform in the regular season and that’s all that counts.
Who cares if he was pulling a Schmaltz during the Pred series and suddenly became allergic to the blue paint in the Preds crease...hell the red paint in the circles for that matter since he was pretty much never seen below them. - HawkintheD
Going to the paint has never been Panarin's game though. He's a sniper. As much as people wanna talk about how he disappeared during that Preds series, ya gotta remember we pretty much walked into that year with ONE line and that was PAK. Shut them down and you shut down the Hawks offensive attack as it happened.
I for one would love to have the Breadman back on this team again if the price is right. Him with Kane and Toews playing with Cat gives you an awesome 1-2 punch while still having guys like Saad, Schmaltz, AA, etc. to fill those spots.

No problem. I'm hopeful he can come back soon though. I'd like to see what we can do with Keith-Seabrook, Gus-Joki, and Forsling-Murphy consistently with Manning subing in and out for guys here and there. Hopeful he can be the impact player they were hoping to get trading Hammer or at the very least, build back up some of his trade value so we can swap him to a team and gain some extra cap space to sign an impact forward in FA next offseason

Just curious what everyone thinks of this...
With how loaded we are with defensive prospects in Joki, Mitchell, Beaudin, etc. would anyone have preferred we took a forward with the 8th pick like Wahlstrom? Not saying that I did or do want him over Boqvist, but with our need for impact forwards and lack there of in the system and a glut of defenders how would you feel having Wahlstrom over Boqvist? |

That's the route I thought they were going to go, by getting Wahlstrom. I like Boq and am excited for him, I just thought it was a big gamble with his concussion history, didn't know that until reports on him came out. This past draft was a toss-up as far as getting the best available guy in any position. That won't be answered for a while. I wasn't expecting 2 d men in the first round, either. I'm glad the d has been restocked, and I'm glad with the decisions. I hope this draft (first round) is for getting forwards, same with free agency. |

That's what I was thinking as well, plus there was no way of guaranteeing that Beaudin would have been available at the end of the 1st for us to grab anyways. Getting Wahlstrom and Beaudin would have been pretty sweet, but with the glut of d-men we have ya gotta think at some point we'll flip one for impact forward

We need a gm to 1. know the value of who to keep vs who is expendable and 2. get an equal or better return as we would be trading from what we got a lot of. Maybe JC will know better and inform Bowman when we get to that bump in the road. |

Always select the best prospect over the player's position. |

Random question... How is baseball popular enough to pay the salaries they pay? Harper possibly getting a $400 million contract?! I understand the popularity of football and basketball, but baseball? - tvetter . Lot more games for one, and I'm sure red Sox. Dodgers. And Yankees. Bring in a ton of. Equty to the league. And summer outdoors don't hurt.

I personally was hoping the Hawks would have taken either Kotkaniemi or a defender: Boqvist, Hughes, Dobson, or Bouchard (not necessarily in that order of priority). I assumed forwards Tkachuk, Zadina, Svechnikov, and Wahlstrom would all be gone by the 8th.
Once it got to the 8th pick and Wahlstrom was still available, was hoping it would be him but knew that the Hawks would select a D-man instead. Wasn't going to be Hughes since the Canucks took him already. Thought it was going to be Dobson or Bouchard, to be honest.
Surprised it was Boqvist but I was happy with the pick. Not immediately but near the end of round 1. |

Montreal claimed him.
Hughes I would have loved. Then we could have Jack this draft. Back to the bros. conversation. Haha. |

Also, does anyone recall Beaudin even being on the radar for the Hawks second 1st rounder? I recall prospects like Dellandrea, Smith, Miller, Veleno, Farabee, and Wilde but not Beaudin. Draftsite consistently had the Hawks picking Dellandrea at 27th.
Like Boqvist taken 8th, I'm very happy with Beaudin at 27th. Was happy right away with the Beaudin pick versus the Boqvist pick which took time to really like. |

Now that we've shown the team can win (1-0 thanks to an own goal), I think what we should focus on now....is where the parade route will be... |

Yet, the Hawks brass tolerated Kane's numerous off-ice shenanigans over the years - StutzBlackhawk
Two totally different situations. Kane in his early years had episodes of stupidity. He could change/ mature. Panarin is just a tool inside and out - it is in his DNA - selfish - no change possible. |

Dallas reached for Dellandrea at 13th, he wasn't supposed to go that high. Boqvist could go anywhere 3–10, but with his concussion issues and Hughes off the board with the previous pick, I would take Wahlstom for sure. Time will tell. BPA of course, but Hawks are badly missing impact forwards in the system. |
