The way the 20-15-40 line is playing is exactly what we need on all 4 lines...simple, direct, to the net with pucks and bodies |
|
|
|
A scoreless period, but really an enjoyable game so far, I think. Sloppy plays here and there for both teams, and trading chances. Great to see the team get better under JC. Third line is a real stand-out line. |

Boring first but I think that's a good thing for Hawks.
Agreed that 20-15-40 line looks good.
Need to get more looks and would like to see sustained pressure in the ozone. The Blues don't look like their handling those cycle shifts very well. Keep that up. |

For this team, boring is good. They need to play steady hockey. Roll 4 lines. Play defense. And shoot the puck. Nothing fancy.

I’m sorry, it’s hockey, not brain surgery. Everything you need to know you should have learned by Bantam.
Don’t throw the puck into dangerous areas in your D zone, stay between your man and the net, backcheck hard, let the goalie have the shooter and take away the pass, don’t pinch if you are the last man back, get the puck to the net, play with speed, play the man, don’t get beat on the short side, etc.
The basics haven’t changed since I learned them in the 60s. - scottak
But systems have changed and each team is at least a little different in that regard. Q doesn't want the body check thrown, Sutter does, Q doesn't want Dmen skating it out, Colliton does, Q played a zone defense, Colliton man to man, Brindamour wants 50 shots thrown at the net, Q wants possession and on and on.
But yea, keep your feet moving, play with energy and within the systems will forever be a staple. |

Good period for the club. 3rd and 4th lines were solid keeping the puck in the attack zone, only 1 odd man against(?), Crow seemed on, energy level high, Saad was active, Manning and Forsling were ok.

Glad to see Forsling back. |

I like how Nate Schmidt gets Maxwell's Silver Hammer dropped on his head for a millionth of a gram of ped that's barely traceable, and asshat Wilson gets a slap on the wrist reduced. |

Joki back on the 1st unit PP? - Mr Ricochet
As he should be. Guy gets his shot through better than any Hawks Dman |
|
|
|
Nice to see Forsling back
Like the PP
Like how aggressive the PK is in the corners
Like the 3 man forward rotation of the lower lines in the o zone so there's always a forward with net front presence |

A period much like the first, but a little more Stl dominant. Crow definitely the hero as he came up big several times. Couple post shots. Great for Seabs to get the goal after Kane did a great job to battle to keep the puck in and make the perfect pass, same for Toews. That 2nd line, if they stay in the o zone, they are sneaky good with setting up and rebounding shots. I want someone else with 19 and 88. I like Schmaltz, but I want him with different players. And Vladdy lost a chicklet, haha. I've been happy with the d pairings. Special teams the difference so far. Much better than last game. |
