In fairness, TM got his fair share of criticism for that while he was here (and well after)

Reinhart's a little trickier because (and correct me if im wrong here) the bills reached to grab manuel at that draft spot.

Reinhart was the #1 forward, all TM did was take the guy at the top of the list. The onus would be on that guy to perform. The tricky part is that it's not like he lucked into 100 something points when he played in the WHL. He really did look like a game changer.

Think he debuted for Kootenay at like 14 and scored a pair of goals.

And that's why it's such a crap shoot, even with "undersized" players(either like Reinhart who don't play big, or players like Gaudreau, who are small), you never know who makes the jump and continues to dominate. He is what he is, a solid 2nd line scoring winger. Despite the robbery that Botterill pulled off on Waddell, guys who score in this league aren't cheap. Kane got $7M as the most one dimensional player in the league, at least Sam can pass in the offensive zone.

Accepting passes was always a problem for Kane. He missed the squirt lesson about cradling the puck

Free agent Nathan Peterman worked out for the Lions.

It's the first interest in Peterman since his Buffalo release. Despite starting experience, Peterman is likely going to have to settle for third-string offers. He isn't a lock to resurface.

Reinhardt- sometimes you get a malkin, landeskog, or staal, sometimes you get a pat faloon, Bobby Ryan, or a Dave chzewowski.

Them’s the breaks. Bitxhing about it as naseum ain’t gonna turn back the clock. Could Reinhardt hit the gym, power skating school, and not being a douche char school? You betcha. Can we just go back to talking about the playoffs or Lockport? Or aboutbharpooning lonely, poor whales at 2 am??? http://www.mynhldraft.com...-picks/2nd-overall/20509/

The Blues are tied for 3rd last, we got that 1st. Even if the push it, were getting a decent prospect of our choosing.

Sobotka has played fine and Thompson is young as you said. I thought his 2nd half of last game was solid after a rough start. Maybe he improves, in a way this is still his rookie season as he only played 40g last year.

I can understand not being overly impressed but given it all we did get some decent parts in the trade and that depth has helped us I think.

- RhinoFan

None of the 3 players are performing to the standards most thought they would
Not terrible
But also not helping all that much either

I can’t explain why the Blues are spiraling,
they should at least be decent with the talent they have
But it looks like we aren’t gonna get that 1st from them this year
That’s fine...
Let’s just hope they suck again next year too

All of that is your projection on the player though. He is making under $4m and is producing as such. My qualm is that he's a former 20 goal guy. I feel he can do that again. But if your argument is that he isn't living up to his draft status, that's Tim Murray's fault, not Reinhart's. It's like EJ Manuel. He was a 3rd round talent taken in the 1st round. It's not his fault he wasn't worthy of the draft status.

Pastranak and others are better. That's not Reinhart's fault. That's a draft fault. But again, most everyone had Reinhart in that position

- jcragcrumple

This is where the argument falls apart in my eyes around expectations of draft picks.
Yes, they are 18 year olds and that complicates things understandably.
But what is inexcusable to me is having a player drafted that high who suffers from commitment to excellence...to achieving those lofty expectations...on that certainly is only on the player...not anyone else.
However, the higher the pick, the higher the expectations, and the experts including GMs had expected for Sam to be a cornerstone with which to build on. That was based on seeing his ability.

2nd overall picks, based on history are expected to produce pretty well, given those 2nds are represented by the following recently
-Pronger
-Malkin
-Marleau
-Sendin
-Doughty
-Staal
-Spezza
-Seguin
-Hedman
-Heatley
-our very own Eichel
Therefore, of course the world is going to have high expectations.

Lastly, Sam has shown when driven, he can in fact produce at a much higher rate.
This is critical as is reflects directly on Sam's commitment to excel versus his ability to excel.
He has the ability, but at times, and some long stretches has shown an inability to commit to doing the things that produce points...twice by his own admission now he has stated he needs to get back to doing the things that make him a more effective player.
The fact that he has yet to consistently produce at a high rate rests solely on him...and therefore his pay reflects his contribution.

Does Sam suck, hell no! I love watching hime set up camp near the net..he is a magician there.
Do I expect more out of him based on his proven ability to produce at a higher rate, hell yes.
His salary is merely a reflection of his willingness to consistently deliver.
To look at him and see long periods of low production and not be disappointed at what realistically could be based on abilities,
welp I don't know what to tell you.

Fantastic. I haven't pegged it since last month but got vacation in March in Arizona, lots of golf to play.

Friend of mine has a condo in Destin FL and looking at a trip there sometime next year. Where are you playing in Atlanta and where in NC?

Last two games I picked TB and Winny so my reverse psychology predicts are working. We'll employ the same strategy tonight.

What’s the cost for Puljarvi? SJ 1st and Scandella? Done!
- Lilroot9

Not sure what has happened to him, he should have better production...but man I would love to see him in Blue and Gold...put him on Jack's right and let's see what happens!

He can't cost a ton right?

Nice. I was wondering because although I haven't played any golf in Atlanta, I have played plenty in NC and SC over the years. Enjoy the rounds.
