Buffalo won the division that season, had a Vezina-winner in goalie Ryan Miller and a Calder-winner Tyler Myers on defense but they couldn't get by the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs.
Ah yes, when Vanek was unstoppable, until he had his leg hacked out from under him by Boychuck, which changed the entire complexion of the series. I believe Julien called it a "good hockey play"

Rasmus Asplund (1st Star) and Lawrence Pilut each with 1+1 as Rochester comes from behind with a three-goal third period to defeat Hartford 4-3. Pilut has points in seven straight. Nylander assist - points in four of his last five.

From last blog:
Kane: 369p in 595gp = .62 PPG
Skinner: 400 in 599 = .66 PPG
Kane- 7x7
Skinner- 8x7.5
Idk, that's the way I see it - jcragcrumple
Kane started in the league a full season before Skinner and has played less games than him.
You're getting more production per season out of Skinner than you are out of Kane because Kane misses games due to his style of play.
ppg is a good stat but it never tells the entire story
Not to mention look at what Skinner is doing with Eichel and look at what Kane did in the same role.
Skinner is much better suited to be playing with Jack and produced better with him than Kane did.
I am going to do a complete breakdown my next post |

I was at that freaking game.
Totally changed the series.
Vanek was the first true Bruin killer the Sabres had and he was owning them that series |

Yes, Skinner is way better suited for this team. Does not mean you write a blank check. I trust Botts to get him signed for less, showing him the details of his plan to make this team a perennial Stanley Cup contender. I think Skinner feels wanted, is close to home and signs for $8- $8.5 for 8 years. (just a hope / thought. No inside info there at all as I have no contacts haha) |

I think the real question is, is dark meat acceptable in chicken salad.
I ate a can of cranberry sauce for lunch once. I wish I could explain my actions. |

We have common ground at the $8.5 for 8 years part
There is just no way I can see him signing for less than $8 million a year.
Especially closer to $7.5 million that was suggested |

We're a top5 team in the league, no "contender" discount at 6M? |

No, definitely not, but the points comparable and games played is almost a perfect reflection imo, and they both have injury history - although Kane's was more recent. I think they start with the points/game comparable, and the rest of the convo goes like this imo:
Agent: "Skinner is a better goal scorer than Kane"
Botts: "Kane is tougher"
Agent: "Inflation from last year"
Botts: "Ok"
8 years, 7.5-7.75
Pegula gives him his full salary as a bonus during the lockout year |

I really don't need to expand on it, considering there's a specific player drafted somewhere at the top of the draft in 2014 who is directly to blame for these policy issues. He knows who he is and I've asked some folks around here to provide negative propaganda against him. |
