Look at some of the contracts signed in the past year besides Kane for comparison and you might get a different opinion on what the Sabres should offer for Skinner.
Seguin 26 y/o 8 yrs $9.85m
Kucherov 25 y/o 8 yrs $9.5m
Couture 28 y/o 8 yrs $8m
Draisaitl 21 y/o 8 yrs $8.5m
Wheeler 32 y/o 5 yrs $8.25m
Now look at only LWs, Benn and Ovie are the highest paid at $9.5m and $9.54m respectively. The next highest paid LW is Parise at $7.54m. All things being considered, I would offer between $7.5-8.5m which would make Skinner the 3rd highest paid at his position. Anything over Parise's $7.54m would still put him in the top 20 of all forwards which seems fair. |

Those two are centers, but I agree that wheeler is a pretty good comp. Kucherov's career numbers are superior to Skinner.
Wheeler took fewer years though |

Going into the season before he played a shift most thought Skinner would be getting around $7.5 per year. If his first 20 games are how he continues to play and produce there’s no way that’s all he signs for |

I wonder if the town of Clarence can absorb the property surrounding New York Beer Project and that chunk of Transit Rd so most of us don't ever have to go to Lockport for good beer. |

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin would probably love to move Karl Alzner and his $4.625-million annual cap hit through 2021-22. Alzner’s been a healthy scratch for most of this season as his slow-footed defensive style doesn’t suit the Habs fast-paced game. However, I doubt he’ll find any takers for the veteran blueliner.
Yeah, glad we didn't bite on him. |

Does anyone actually consider that area Lockport though?
- CoHo_to_B-Lo
I'm writing a resolution to the Board to make this a reality. I'm disgusted about having to cross that border a few times a month. |

Question 1. Where can I get a good (frank)ing cup of coffee in this city.
Question 2. I want Mexican coffee. The poop they make in the clay pot with the cinnamon sticks. Where the (frank) do I find it? - TheSabresTaco
Well, I can safely say the best cup of coffee in Lockport is at the Mexican place, Aguacates, but they don't do the cinnamon sticks, although, I've never asked.
Too many places serve weak-ass coffee in Buffalo, though.
I was not impressed with Perks, Spot is meh and Coffee Culture closed.
Lockport actually has a very good coffee shop called Steamworks but they're a bit pricey. It's a true coffee shop though, no sandwiches or 'menu' items, just coffee, tea, pastries. |

Kucherov was last season wasn't it?
He left money on the table they say, but I think that's a good example of what's driving my "not 10+" remark anyways. |

from the penguins blog -
"One thing that will help the Penguins is that Sabres coach Phil Housley remains confused on which Rasmus is actually good. He thinks Ristolainen should play the big minutes, but it should obviously be Dahlin who was the generational talent taken number one overall this past spring.
When Rasmus Dahlin is on the ice the Sabres have 51.57 CF% and when he is off that drops to 48.0. When Ristolainen is on the ice the Sabres have a CF% of 47.16% and when he’s off that rises to 50.4%. Dahlin has a 5v5 points per 60 of 1.21 and Ristolainen who is supposedly an offensively minded player is at a lowly 0.34. Kris Letang who is having a great season is at 1.17 points per 60 to put Dahlin’s production in perspective. Dahlin should be a top pairing player not a third pairing player (where he's been recently), but the Penguins need every break they can get these days."

No. He has been on bad teams with no center help and still scored 37g two seasons ago. Also remember, by the end of last year the Canes had moved on and were putting him on the 3rd line.
With Jack, I'd imagine 60 is the low water mark. - RhinoFan
Skinner looks great, but I'm worried about the eichel/factor
When he wasn't playing with eichel games 2-6, he wasn't a $8.5 million guy |

We're paying him to be Eichel's winger and if he gets 40+ per season doing that, it's more than worth it. This is a non-issue. Sign that man. 8.5x8 isn't going to make me lose any sleep.
Now, if Skunk continues to be nothing but a 50/60-point guy for the next 2 years, then anything over 6.5 is going to make me hurt inside. It's essentially the Okposo contract all over again. |

Botts should be gunning for 8x8. $8.5M should be the max and even then that might be too much. - Pegullaville
I agree. 8.5 max. 8 x8 would be workable
We have too many young good players to worry about.
