Pilut only gets here through a trade or injury. Scandella has probably been the worst defenseman and hes obviously not going to get sent down. Already have 7 d so can't rotate him in. |

Obviously we won’t win like this going forward, but all we have to do is go legit .500 in terms of wins, and with a few loser points, we’re in.
If I’m JB, I’m looking to make a move soon.
I want Pilut here - sbroads24
It’s accurate to think that we won’t continue the win streak for another 60 games, but there isn’t any reason to think that we will only be a .500 team going forward.
We’re good. |

Detroit is every bit as hot as we are, and both coming off a game last night, but we have played an extra game (7) in the last 11 days.
We win last night in OT Wings lost in regulation (Caps).
I hope we find the right energy. - Der Kaiser

The team is winning here and in Rochester. I don't understand the reasoning of making a move now. No reason to make a move just to make a move. If Wilson is back soon, they'll have to send someone down as it is. Now with Tage picking up his game, I don't see them sending him down. Elie probably goes down for Wilson (and may get claimed), so who goes down if Pilut comes up? Tage, Mitts and Dahlin are the only waiver exempt guys. - adambuffalo
The reason is to get better before regression inevitably happens.
He can absolutely move (or try to) move a depth forward like Wilson, or whoever and a player like Beaulieu or Scandella, so we can get guys like Pilut or Smith here, who are too good to be in Rochester.
Thompson is starting to really look like a player. If he gets sent down or out of the lineup for Scott freaking Wilson we have a problem |

I reject the theory that human behavior - whether individually or in small groups - can be explained in mathematical formulas. |

They've been playing with fire for quite a bit of this win streak. It's also unfair to give .500 a negative connotation.
teams that go the "real" .500 typically make the playoffs. A regression to that level isn't bad if they can do it consistently. |

I agree, this "the window isn't open until next year" crap is defeatist behaviour.
Why not take a run now?
We have the picks and a smart gm.

My point is you don’t have to mortgage anything really to make some improvements to shore up a playoff birth, and be competitive in the series.
What if the Leafs get another major injury come playoff time? Or the Caps?
All the sudden winning a round isn’t impossible.
We haven’t won a round of playoff hockey in over 10 years. It’s time to start trying to win every year. Starting now |

Winning a round now is impossible? They'd be underdogs, no question, but impossible is a mighty stretch. |

It's been a very long, but I remember just how good Ottawa was in the year after the lockout, as they were seriously talented.
I'm not saying Buffalo is nearly as good as they were then, but I don't think Toronto is nearly as good as Ottawa was back then either. |

I don’t think it’s impossible at all. That’s my entire point.
It’s time to stop acting like we’re just happy to be entertained.
They have a franchise center coming into his own and a generational defenseman getting better each week, coupled with decent depth and solid goaltending.
Sitting back seems like the wrong move to me |

It's funny, we all were hoping for entertaining hockey.
Now: 8 wins in a row.
That changes my outlook for sure
How about Sabres president kim pagula.
Doing a great job of managing this team.
