If we're in 3rd at the TDL, you may wanna to reconsider where you think we are in the building process - jcragcrumple
If the Sabres are in 3rd at the TDL they’re looking to add a piece or two and sign Skinner.
I know it’s early in the honeymoon stage but you would have to think both Skinner and the Sabres know where they want to be.
I think Skinner is a Sabres for the next 7 maybe 8 years. I think Botterill will negotiate hard with his agent but they’ll find a happy place in the middle somewhere.
If the Sabres are still top 3 in the conference they’re adding someone on the blue line and perhaps another RWer one of which still has term left on his contract and not a compete rental. |

That's usually how teams end up taking two steps back. Puck luck is a huge factor in this, it's how the Sens can be a goal away from the finals one year and then outside looking in the next. Or how the leafs got suckered into thinking they were a playoff team in the shortened season and gave massive deals to Phaneuf and then Clarkson. - Sabresfan-365
This, I believe, boils down to, Do you want:
A playoff run with Skinner
Or
An extra 1st
I have 3 firsts. I will take the playoff run |

He certainly is a very talented young man.
Can't wait to watch him after he puts some weight on that frame.
You can tell in the board battles defensively, he's not there yet because his body is not NHL ready yet.
A good off season of training with the right instructor will do the young man wonders. |

????
He’s extremely physical for an 18 year old defensemen.
His battles along the wall I think are more technique than strength |

I don't think it's either or. Id take whatever I got for Skinner package it with one of the firsts we already have and go after someone who is cost controlled. Helps you short term and long term.
Of course, Im seeing a probable first round exit because Im the devil. If you see it as potentially a serious run, that's certainly more enticing. |

You think?
I've seen him get pushed off the puck in the corners sometimes too easily.
But hey, you may be right.
Perhaps it is a combination of the 2 things that need to be addressed for defensive zone purposes of course.
I'm no expert nor do I claim to be even though I have watched this game for over 50 years.
I do sit 12 rows up from the ice though which does help me in my evaluations. |

That’s a shame. Need help with buying X-mas presents this year? I’m actually seated under the ice. 10 rows down |

I wish I could watch a game two years from now just to see what he's like.
Honestly, I think he's a summer workout regimen away from being truly dominant. |

A first round playoff series against the Leafs would be tremendous entertainment. |

It would be, but I don't relish the thought of dealing with insufferable leafs fans should they win. |

I asked the question because I think there's a case to be made either way fwiw. Still think getting what we can at the TDL would be prudent unless a deal was in place. At the same point, there is some value to making the playoffs, giving the fans some fun and giving Eichel the winger he deserves for at least one full year. - RhinoFan
With them starting contract talks in the new year they will know by TDL if he's staying or not. If they don't come to terms then trade him and get what you can. |

He's 18. This still haopens to Reinhart regularly, who's a few years older. |
