his shot rates suggest he should be putting up more points than he actually is. Change in scenery/line mates may help with that. - Sabresfan-365
Schmatlz shot 18% last year. Shot 9% year before, 6% this year.
Kind of seems like he’s a risk to never really repeat that year |

This kinda feels like Chayka doubling down on the Galchenyuk disaster (so far). who knows, maybe moving him to Schmaltz's wing works out. |

Domi will slow down.
But paying in AZ doesn’t seem to do any favors for most young players |

A lot of his underlying numbers put him right in the middle amongst Hawks skaters, including last year.
It's possible that's angle. They were looking for reliability and wanted to move on from Strome. |

Agreed, but to your latter point, it's less about domi and more about Galchenyuk. That just hasn't worked so far. |

Yeah, I have to admit I know little about Schmaltz.
I know he’s a nice player, but it just seems like he’s a candidate to get an undeserving long term deal off one 50 point year |

My other angle to it is based off how chummy arizona/chicago have been over the years, that both Strome and Schmaltz went to management and quietly asked to be moved, and that they did each other a solid.
The timing would make sense, I don't think Schmaltz was going to get the deal he wants from the hawks and Im pretty sure Strome was more or less done with seeing some 13 minutes a night in Arizona. |

From one of the Hawks fans:
"You would think that Saad - Toews - Kane would be a dominant line but they get destroyed on possession when they play together."
Is that really true? |

The Coyotes can't score goals and they trade away their best prospect and a solid kid for albeit another solid kid, but I'd think they could get Schmaltz for Perlini and a 2nd or something. Maybe Strome forced his way out, he's been getting the short end of it for going on 4 years now. Whether that's because his game doesn't translate or not you expect a 3rd, especially in that draft to be at the very least a solid NHLer by now.
Edit: Late on the trade request. That's the only thing that makes even a hint of sense, maybe Tocchet refused to play him and Chayka had to get something while he could, but that seems like a Tocchet problem, not a Chayka one. |

Did you see the cringefest at the end of the race? Max wanted so badly to be included and they kept moving away from him. And the camera kept panning away too. |

He’s a punk. Sure he gets it done but if everyone drove like that races would end with more dnf’s than finishes.
He provides drama but I’m not a fan

Agree, I just thought it was funny he kept trying to slide in with Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso, and they just shut him out. I don't remember, but I don't think he even got an on track interview like the other 3 did either. |
