Quick thought and question.

Someone brought up Schneider as a goalie. He has 3 more years after this year at 6 million.

Would a 2nd rounder straight up make the deal? I know they spent a 1st to get him but if he really lost his starting gig and I know a 2nd seems steep but it is in division, would you do it? Would NJ?

Wait, you want to move a pick/prospect to make the team better in the present?

You're a lunatic, get that crazy talk out of here!!!

He hasn’t been the same since getting injured. I’d rather try and grab Crawford or Howard

Hey at least we can all sleep at night knowing there won’t be 1 mil in dead money tied up in a bought out neuvirth this year and next. Imagine what the ramifications would have been if that happened?
- Just5

Can you believe people have faith in a guy who has retained the same PK coach despite being at the bottom of the PK rankings year after year after year.

A crash test dummy would have been smart enough not to bring Neuvirth back.
This franchise is pretty much a punchline at this point.

You bring bob home. Simple as that. For as much as been written about his down season he’s a 2.59 and .917. 6 years...42 mil

At this point, no matter when Hextall decides to fire Hakstol, it’s gonna feel long overdue.

No, I wouldn't.

Just playing the game, where would you go in the offseason. Right now I am not so sure Hart is going to be here to start next season and if he is might need someone to split time with or maybe play the majority.

Remember this team is to take a step forward this year, GM's own words. So I would think you need a bonafide goalie next year to continue the steps forward.

So we have one of Hart/Sandstrom as the backup for the next 6 years? Cool beans, sign me up!

Also, this is a little crazy talk, but...I mean, Steve Mason is 100% available. It's telling that no one has reached out to him, but the dude was able to provide average goaltending for the bulk of his time here.

They're going to have to make some kind of move. I would just hesitate to add a player who is struggling, has lost his starting job and has a large cap hit with 3 more years.

Howard is interesting. Would you take back a bad contract to keep cost down? I know Abdelkader and Helm have long term deals.

If they talk to Chicago I would want Anisimov too, to fill that 3c role.

I also wouldn't be totally against Mike Smith depending on cost.

You mean like Steve Mason?

I understand. Mason didn't have the contract Schneider does so that comes into play.

During the second half of the 2015-16 season, the Flyers made an adjustment to the PK; they switched to the now much-maligned "passive box" after they were about 78 percent in the first half of the season.

But Bill, MJL says it isnt a passive box

It is because people see other young teams being totally awesome right away. It is a little concerning but all prospects grow at different rates.

A lot of the inconsistent play is not coming from the young players. That's only part of it.

It's not. It's described in that manner due to the execution of the players. Its in quotes for a.reason.

Based on the last game, the Flyers play a turn the puck over system.

Don’t want to take back any bad contracts. Would offer Detroit a 3rd and Stolarz

Also, I didn't see any issues with the PK in the Toronto game, so maybe that's a sign it's moving in the right direction.

Good stuff Bill, but it still infuriated me that they didnt buy out Neuvirth in June and go the FA route to secure a goalie to tandem with Elliott. I’d also give Sanheim a crack at pp2 and more ice time overall, he’s earned it and honestly, they have nothing to lose.

Watching how Provorov is both handling and shooting the puck right now, it’s hard to believe that he’s not trying to play through some type of injury. If so , he needs to be shut down until he’s 100%. He’s too valuable to the future of this franchise to risk turning a minor injury into a major one in a season when the team has no shot of going deep in the playoffs, and may well miss the playoffs altogether.

I don't agree with buying out Neuvirth. they had enough cap space to carry 3 goalies. why eat up dead cap space next year? agree it would have been smart to sign a 3rd goalie tho

I agree. If they need to, they can waive and demote Neuvirth to get a roster spot.

I hate Weise on the 2nd line. he has played well but he is not a 2nd liner. Demoting Lindblom was rash to me but what do I know. i also would like to see Laughton get a shot at the 3rd line center role.

I don't need to see Weal anymore. I think he can fill in for injury but not someone I want to see night in and night out.

Bringing Bob back isn't a bad idea although lots of people think he'd block Hart.

He can always be moved later or exposed to Seattle. hell, he may be a perfect pick up for Seattle in a couple seasons.
